Call the facility where your appointment is scheduled, not your doctor, and ask them! Most of the time, we use an IV contrast for a CT scan of the chest. That contrast can make you feel temporarily nauseous, so our facility asks that you are NPO (nothing by mouth) for 3 hours prior to your study.

It depends on whether you are undergoing a palin CT scan (without contrast) or a contrast CT. If it is a contrast CT then it is preferable that you are fasting for atleast 3-4 hours prior preferably 6 hours.
