You can make lacing cards by cutting shapes out of construction paper and laminating. After you have laminated it punch holes around the edges. Give the child the cards with shoe laces and let them practice lacing and tying. If you are not able to verbally communicate with them then simply sit down and play with the cards along side of the child. Tie the the shoe lace and then clap for yourself...showing the child the tied shoelace.

You can also make availble dolls with shoes that tie.

When you put the childs shoes, get their attention and be sure that they are watching. Tie his/her shoe (clap) and then untie and lead their hands to try as well. Just some ideas. hope they help :)

That Spongebob song is fun, but I find is confusing!! I think just showing the child is more effective than having to describe it anyway.

why would you need to do that?
but haha.

just demonstrate to him/her by tying your own shoelaces, and get him/her to follow. then if he/she doesnt, then guide her/his hands?
