depends how many speakers you have.... the size of your room and what u want to play through it....
if u got 2 put them in front of where you sit about 50 Cm from the wall to prevent boom
if u have a sub... put it somewhere out the way (if u can stick it under your seat...)
for 4 speakers add the extra 2 behind your head angled in to where u sit.. gives u 360 sound....
5 speaks.. stick on in the middle
finally 7... follow the intructions in the box....lol

i have 3...2 next to my bed angled in and one below the tv...so when i watch tv i get the vocal thru the front and a wider range of sound next to me....

ok 1st off dont make the mistake of putting all ya speakers up high. around 1.5 metres from the floor is the best place especially wirh suround speakers your 2 main speakers can be put up higher. buy a descent stereo with suround sound and it will show you. the general rule is have them at ear level when your sitting down. the sub can actually be placed anywhere in the room although behind the tv is the best place

It depends on how seriously you want to take placement. If you are the type to be psychotically obsessed with perfect sound (harmonics, resonance, etc.), then I would recommend taking a look at this guide:

However, if you don't care about all that stuff, the best answer is to just listen and do what sounds and feels right to you. Your ears are a far better judge of what sound you like than anyone that may answer you here.

Depends on size of room and speaker output. Suggest you move them around to judge the best sound.

In the corners at least 10 feet apart. Just above head height.

Main speakers (left + right and subwoofer) should be in front of you. All others (should be in the rear at ear height when sitting).

Put them at places that best suit you for the sound.

Place them equidistant from your listening room.
Like a equilateral triangle. Point the speakers
towards each ear or have them cross
points just behind your ears.

if you have four speakers then two behind you (one as far right and one as far left) and two in front of you (again as far right and as far left) all pointing inwards towards the centre of the room that way stereo will act at best.

Apparently not on the floor as this makes the sound quality to drop.
