I believe that many people begin to believe in god due to a fear of death. Scientific men such as Voltaire who had shown no religious tendencies became faithful after he suffered a heart attack.

No, God makes life better. Considering most denominations in Christianity and Islam believe in a burning hell - then believing in God ought to make death even more scary.
But the truth some people believe in God out of fear of torment and not love. Religion has mismaligned God into a vengeful merciless torturer of souls which is a tragedy, as in truth, God is love and merciful. God offers everlasting life or everlasting death not everlasting life or forever torture.

Death is inevitable whether you believe or not.Believing in God just makes the passage from life through death to life again so much easier.

Afraid of death? Of course not. It's easier to believe that there is no Heaven or Hell, no consequences for what we do in this life. When I die, if nothing happens, I've lost NOTHING.
If there's nothing after life, what is there to be afraid of in death?

I'm not a believer myself, but clearly many find comfort in a God as a way of answering that fear-based uncertianty

no i believe in God because life up till now has suggested that there is a God
i actually am curious about death more than scared ( not in a morbid way though )

I believe in God , because he has helped me when ever I needed . There were occasions, where I was all alone with some big problem standing in front of me........I just remembered him .....and believe it he helped me out, sometimes just like miracles........God is walking with us all the time, it is just that you have to open your mouth and call him........he is your best friend , but you don't realize it........try to speak to him and he will answer.....
Besides, may be science made so much progress, but till today nobody knows... what is soul,... from where it comes... and where it goes, ....what is it made of...., how does it look.......this is because only God has answers to these question. ........so I believe in God.........God is great.
