I recently had an ultrasound on the above and thankfully there was nothing serious, I have been getting pains in my lungs for the past couple of months and wondered if there was something serious like cancer, would it show up even if the hospital weren`t looking at this organ?

No. The only possible thing was if you had fluid in your lungs it MIGHT show up, but the likelihood of you having a lung problem and it showing up on the ultrasound you described is next to zero. If you are worried about lung cancer just get a chest x ray.

NO. A regular chest x-ray would show most lung problems but a ultrasound is not generally used on the lungs. How would a ultrasound of the bladder show anything in the chest anyway??

Nope. Ultrasound cannot see the lungs. Ultrasound is hindered by air, and that is the reason for the gel they put on your body before scanning.....we need an air free contract in order to image anything. In fact, air in the colon can easily interfer with an ultrasound of your abdomen. Chest imaging is routinely done via chest x-rays or CT scans.

No. It would not show anything in the lung. You should talk to your doctor now. But I don't think it is a cancer though because most lung cancer does not cause isolated pain like that. It would also come with cough, weight loss, etc.

I do not understand all this use of ultrasound for so many organs. No, it would not be a dependable source for lung pathology and is often wrong on other organs.

No...an ultrasound of the above organs targets only those organs. If you are concerned , ask your doctor for a spiral CT scan of the chest.

Only if it was big enough that it put pressure on the lungs. go get checked. Don't drive yourself crazy with worry. Tests suck, but if you need to know you have to get tested.
