First Aid means to be able to provide emergency first aid management of
* injuries
* illness
* until medical aid arrives
The Qualified First Aiders Aims to Prevent
- further danger to himself, others or the casualty
- the casualty dying
- the casualty’s condition becoming worse
- delay in the casualty’s recovery
- any harmful intervention.
First Aid is still absolutely essential to preserve life.
If qualified and you follow the guidelines of First Aid you have less chance of being sued.

Being a volunteer fire fighter i can tell you that it is very important to have first aid cause you never know when there will be a day that you are first on scene of a car accident or medical emergency
Also it would be best once you have done your first aid training to get a special first aid kit made up so you can stick it in the car ready for anything

Being an EMT, I can tell you that it is very important. Even a minute makes a big difference. Take someone who has a stroke. If you have training and are able to provide the patient with some oxygen, your helping preserve the vital organs until the paramedics get there. This extra help can make the difference from someone having a full recovery or a partial recovery or even death. I made my wife take some classes, just in case. I could go on and on about how important training is, but just take a look at all the cases out there where someone suffered serious injury or even death and take a look at how many could have been prevented by someone helping out.

Importance of first aid training is not only saving lives but because you spend most of your time with your family you save the lives of those closest to you. You are also really handy in an emergency which can happen anywhere.

if you have some 1st aid training, you wouldn't necessarily have to run to the doctor or emergency room for every minor thing, you could treat it yourself. it may also lead to a career choice if you like it well enough and are good at it. It may also help you save someone's life, or deliver a baby, which are both great feelings! Good luck!

It's impossible to know when someone may be injured; it may be you, a friend, a child, a parent, or just someone walking down the street. If you are trained in first aid, you will be able to respond calmly and effectively, as opposed to a person lacking such training, who may not know what to do, how to do it, or how to remain calm.

If u knw 1st aid, u can save life in many ways.
Many injuries, emergencies need first aid 2 handle it.
Eg. For sudden arrest of respiration, artificial respiration is given as first aid, which may save d subject otherwise he may die.

The other answers are very true. Also first aid training helps you treat yourself in case you are sick or injured.
