Me, I don't. I only answer questions I know the answer to. Once I answer, I get references from the web to show/backup what I say, as there is no point answering any old c**p as it puts people in the wrong direction, gives people a wrong sense of security and really isn't what all about (or is that just me?).
That's my answer.

I notice that too. Many people seems to think simply because they pull something off, it'll work out magically. They also got lot f ideas from movies. Here's some example I notice in here often:
-Many of them have what I call "street fighter mental" (street fighter video game) which mean if the opponent start to do a move, the person can pull off a technique which will cancel out opponent's move and attack them a well 100% of the time no matter what. Of course kick to the knee will be ultimately most powerful move that will literally work EVERY time and stop everybody in this world.
-Often I have to chuckle at people who talk about blocks and other stuff. They simply never really take in any account that it's not exactly that easy to blocks especially if opponent move and attack from angle or get them to block to set something up. That's why it's a really bad idea to learn from books.
-Pressure point, finger strike, etc... It's almost gurantee that they found this in book or movies. If they were ever to spar (even point sparring) they would suddenly find out it's extremely difficult to pull this off and even put them in more dangerous. However people want to live like a old chinese man, give themselve false sense of secure, or try to look dangerous so they babbles about it. Similar to what N. Korea president are doing (all talk and exhibition but can't even pull a thing off without failing)
-Using movie star's quote, mention a technique they saw on movie, say a movie star is best fighter, and the list goes on. Sad thing is I can go down to south and find a drunk red neck among crowd at pig wrestling and with right people I can make a movie that make the drunk look like deadliest person in world.
-Monk... Most overrated thing ever! People seems to think they can't be destroyed at all, can predict everything, never will get hit, can fly, and the list goes on. It never fail to amaze me how people can't realize the monk are simply a human with proper training. What monk did is nothing amazing or unique. Muay Thai fighter in Thailand live very similarly but they fight. Military special force probably go through even more than the monk ever will. Also there's plently evidence of caveman surviving in harsh condition and the list goes on. People need to realize that monk are a human like as everyone else.
Those are some example that is most commonly seen on here, usually from people who doesn't train for competition or have no confidient in themselve. Sad thing is those people like to call other people aggorant but yet they're willing to run their mouth about how they can pull off secret technique, use pressure point, or whatever to end the fight. They seems to have no humbleness in them when they know they will lose to someone such as wrestler, boxer, or even medicore Muay Thai fighter.

I only answer questions I know or already know a good link to. But, I see no reason as to why people can't research an answer if the question has a simple solution. I do agree that a lot of answers seem to come from the book, a movie, or their preconceived notions.

I always try to research my answers as thoroughly as possible, but mostly it's from my knowledge from people I've talked to and studied Martial Arts with. because I don't like giving an uninformed and therefore bulls**t or quick and/or biased answer just to get the points, but rather try to answer the person's question as accurately as possible.
if it sounds like they're from a book or website; then yeah it is, because that's where I got the bulk of the info, from reading the history or basis of the theory behind the disciplines.

i don't deal in martial arts etc
but some people do get their information out of books or off the net & that is good really because the person will know the answer is right
because you are to state your source at the bottom of the answer

I don't. If I didn't know anything about martial arts I wouldn't be on here. I'd be asking questions instead of answering them. Hope this helps.
