I am trying to find the reason why the Brie in the french market is so much better than the Brie in supermarkets and why all British cheeses have deteriorated in quality since the 1970s.

i totally agree with you. but i have found a solution to your problem for high quality cheese, as i am a big cheese lover myself.

Waitrose.

especially in sussex, because the sussex local cheeses are to die for. they do not freeze any of there cheese, and it really depends what you want. most of their brie is imported from france, or made specifically for them buy specialist cheese makers.

this goes for most of the waitrose/ john lewis products. they are grown, bred, and farmed specifically for their quality, and i wouldnt shop anywhere else! Good Luck

Well I bought some Somerset Camembert(!) the other day and it tasted like the cheapest Brie you could possible buy. I think from now on, I'm going to stick with buying the genuine article. If you want a particular type of cheese, you need to buy it from the Country it was made in or from a brand manufactured in that particular country. Not knocking UK cheese as I love some types of Cheddar and Stilton.

CHEESE IS NOT FROZEN BEFORE SALE.ITS A DAIRY PRODUCT I DONT THINK YOU CAN FREEZE IT.I DONT AGREE ALL THE CHEESE IN BRITAIN HAS CHANGED THAT MUCH.BUT THOSE THAT MAY HAVE IS DUE TO THE EU STICKING ITS NOSE INTO HOW WE MAKE THINGS OVER HERE.BY SAYING YOU MUST THIS INGREDIENT INSTEAD OF THAT ONE SO IT DOES CHANGE FLAVOUR.I AGREE WITH YOU THERE.AS FOR BRIE NOT MY FAV ANYWAY.TRY WHITE CRUMBLY LANCASHIRE AND CHESHIRE CHEESE GRATED TOGETHER.LUVLY.AND OF COURSE BEST OF ALL MATURE FARM-HOUSE.GHOUDA-SMOKED CHEDDER WITH CHILE-OR WITH HAM . THINK ILL STOP NOW GETTING HUNGRY LOL.YOU MIGHT AGREE OR NOT.
