They are biblically mandated to forgive, but they also need to be praying for the guy. This shouldn't be allowed to become some kind of sick form of entertainment, but unfortunately too many people who claim to be Christians would rather point the finger at Haggard than to assume it could never happen to them. Check out the blog entry I posted yesterday about Haggard.

Yes they should its instruction given to us by Jesus forgive as i have forgiven you. Tedd has confessed and i hope he has repented and asked for forgiveness. Being Gay is not a sin its the act which is forbidden. He needs prayer and healing and the love from the body of Christ. But remember he who passes judgement will be judged by the same measure. Love your God with all your mind ,body and strength and love your neighbour as your self.

Of course,
dose that mean what he did wasnt bad, no, dose it mean he shouldnt be able to preach again, most likely (99.9999999999999%) not.
Of course they feel hurt, abandond, lost and confused, but they have the word to fall back on and others who are strong in that church who wont let it crumble (like John Brever) and the other pastors there.
The bible says we should love none the less and forgive. That dosent mean that he wont reap consiquences.
Its all biblical repentance, he did do the right thing asking those who he hurt to forgive him, and they should and relese him of the condemnation and guilt of it beacuse thats what christ dose.
He has a long hard walk ahead of him now, I pray he stands back up and at least starts living as a man of God again.

According to 1 Corinthians 5 he should be expelled from the church until he shows clear signs of repentence. He has dishonoured the name of Jesus Christ and been shown to be a hypocrite. He needs to prove himself before the elders of his church before he can be given any postion of authority.
1 Corinthians deals with a man that slept with his father's wife. In 2 Corinthians, after he showed repentence, Paul said to receive him back.

They absolutely have to. Forgiveness of the sins and shortcomigs of others is the central doctrine of the Bible, the core of salvation. The Lord Jesus instructe believers to, "forgive, and you will be forgiven." It's not based on whether or not we believe the man deserves to be forgiven; that would be setting ourselves up as his judge. But it is based on whether or not we want to be forgiven by the Lord for our own sins and shortcomings. We have truly been hurt by what Pastor Ted has done, but it is not ours to judge him; we forgive him, pray for his restoration, and turn over the matter to the Lord Jesus Christ, who has the final word, for that is exactly the response we would want for ourselves from others if we were in his position.
If they do not forgive him, the Bible tells us that our unforgiveness will give our enemy, Satan, the legal right to accuse us before God for our disobedience and give him access into our lives (2 Cor. 2:10-11). It is a sad turn of events, but it will be even sadder if true Christians respond the wrong way. This is a test of our love and our confession that we must pass, no matter what the world says or thinks.

Only if he is genuinely repentant, which I seriously doubt. From what I have read about him, and his statements subsequent to being exposed, he sounds like a complete and utter charlatan.

Followers of Christ are obligated to forgive him - however - he would and should be stripped of his trust in carrying the gospel and representing Christ until he has proven himself restored. And that is never done overnight. A minister carries the sacred trust of the gospel of Jesus Christ and is supposed to reflect the life of Christ.
When they do something not Christ-like it is tantamount to presenting Christ in false light.

Call me old fashioned but i believe that those who preach should have even stronger morals than their followers, it's like a smacking parent telling one child off for smacking another. If you put yourself up on a pedestal, you should be whiter than white. But hey that's just me following the old values attached to the title "Men of God"

Personally I think it would be in the interests of all religions to get over their neurosis of sexuality.
However, he should be held to account for his homophobic views.

Yes, I think they should and I think they will. The man is only human. I do think it was wrong of him to do, and I hope he receives the healing that he needs.
