Catholics are Christians...They have the same basic beliefs as the other Christian denominations as in:
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God the Father, creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, who was conceived by
the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under
Pontious Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, He
descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the
dead. He ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right
hand of God the Father. From thence, he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic (universal) Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
I have belonged to thed Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Episcopalian, Christian & Missionary Alliance, & the Roman Catholid Churches. They ALL believe this. The core belief is the same...they have different ways of expressing the core belief.
I believe we should accent how the denominations are alike instead of the differences.
The Bible does not teach that Catholicism is wrong. They are very devout people...probably more so than any of the churches I have been priviliged to belong to. I am a very ecumenical person...It is time we got rid of prejudice & ignorance where other denominations are concerned. They all have something to offer believers.

This is a matter of perspective. If you trace the current branches of protestantism back to the middle ages you eventually get back to Matrin Luther A German clergyman and the founder of Lutheranism. Anyway the whole of all the Non-Catholic christian churches starts there. Effectively Martin Luther had some serious moral issues with the way the Catholic church was being run. So he posted 95 complaints (theses) on the door of his church. Well like what always happened in that time if you disagreed with the Church publicly you were going to get a visit from a high raking church official,(a bigger hat). The guy with the bigger hat always asked that the statement/claims be recanted and all would be forgiven. Well Martin Luther believed that he was right to have the objection that did and refused stay quiet or recant. Well for his insolence the Church excommunicated(kicked out ) Martin Luther (which according to the church meant he couldn't get into heaven). Shortly there after Martin Luther started up his own church with the foundations set forth by Catholicism but correcting the practices that he believed went against the core principals of Christianity. Every other branch of non-catholic Christianity is either the result of disagreeing with Catholicism in their own way or disagreeing with an earlier protestant christian denomination.

i anticipate via "Christianity" you advise Protestantism, or mainstream Christianity. if that is so, then no, they don't have the comparable ideals. Protestantism replaced into the stream against the Catholic Church. Many will declare that Catholics at the instant are not christian, yet via the technical definition, they're. the two communities have faith in Jesus Christ as Messiah and try to stay along with his teachings. Christianity is a faith, Catholicism and Protestantism are distinctive Christian sects.

NO. Christianity is a belief. Catholicism is an institution an organisation There is also definitely and irrevocably the Greek Orthodox version but also an institution etc. The only thing they have in common is that you have to accept their version of Christianity. They need you to BELIEVE this or the have no reason to exist. and they will maintain this by any means-any-that they deem necessary (inquisition a good one). If you believe they thrive if you do not they get rid of you. The history of this loving church is bloody indeed.

There are various branches of Christianity and Catholicism is one of them. These forms of Christianity display minor differences mainly in the way of worship, i.e. religious ritual. Most of them appeared one after another in history and in themselves represent attempts to reform and update Christian teaching based on what is considered by each one of them a deeper understanding of the Bible.
The first officially accepted Christian denomination was the Orthodox church, later on Catholicism split from it forming its own hierarchy of clergy. A later attempt to reform the then active Christian church dogma was Protestantism, with its various modern variations.
The unifying concept that all Christian denominations share though is the concept of Jesus Christ, the Saviour and a manifestation of the Almighty God, who offers his followers forgiveness and redemption.
PS. Amazing how so many Christians obviously from the US think that Christianity started with Catholicism! Please, read your history, especially the part on Byzantium!

Being a christian is not really a religion like most people think it
is. For Jesus did not teach in a church he went out to the people
and that's what Jesus was all about, spreading the love and the word of God out into the community, and that is what being a christian is all about. As for the different in being a Catholicism
i am not sure what it is but i do know the they are different .
remember Jesus loves you

All Catholics are Christians but not all Christians are Catholic. The Catholic Church is the one Church founded by Christ. The Catholic Church has all the sacraments established by Christ for his people. Throughout the years some Catholics broke away from the Church to form new religions. All other Christian religions were once Catholic.
One was the result of the sin of lust and another a disagreement of the requirements for salvation. The disagreement was of faith or action. If man was not human and a physical being faith would be enough. But we are called on to love God with our whole being, this includes our physical actions. Being physical and spiritual beings both faith and actions are required.
Some, for some reason think it is wrong to talk to Mary. I don’t know why. I don’t think she has ever done anything to them.
All Christians believe in the teachings of Christ and the differences are the result of understanding what Christ is saying.

Hi!
Catholism is disqualified to be Christian for the following reasons:
1.Catholism inculdes the name of Mary in their PRAYERS while the Jesus says in John 14:13 " And whatever you may ask in My name, that I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son."
I will show you biblically why Mary should not be prayed through:
1.As a Christian, you are not to talk or worship A DEAD HUMAN BEING or spirit:
Isaiah 8:19
And when they say to you, "Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter," should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?
In this chapter, God was warning the Israelites not to ask the dead for anything!
2. THERE IS NO OTHER MEDIATOR BUT JESUS CHRIST:
1Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and there is ONE MEDIATOR BETWEEN GOD and MEN, the man CHRIST JESUS,
Mary should not mediate in any way.
3. MARY WAS A SINNER LIKE ALL OF US:
A sinner cannot intercede for other sinners! Mary is a sinner because she was born of man, and all men are born in sin(Psalm 51:5).She also needed the Blood of Jesus to be cleansed of sins.
Mary called God her "Savior" in Luke 1:47 meaning that she ALSO NEEDED SALVATION LIKE ALL OF US!
4.JESUS ACTUALLY PUT MARY DOWN TO HER HUMANITY:
Jesus here says:
(Matthew 12:48) "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?"

However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
I Peter 4:16
New International Version
thats the real Christians business; to suffer and not the business of the pope in rome, sitting in his throne
