Of course love is about attractiveness, both physically and on an emotional level. At first there is lust and longing for each other, when you're in that "sexual passion" phase. It all depends on the couple but as that starts to fade slightly it is replaced with more romance, a need to just be in each others company, and most importantly, learning sacrifice and compromise. Love isn't an easy thing without that, you must be prepared to give everything to that significant other because their happiness overrules you own (but it must work both ways). If not, then there will be problems down the road. Sympathy should not have anything to do with it.

I guess the real question is not why but when it is going to happen for you and all of the things you mention above attractiveness beauty, time passing and sympathy all take a back seat when you find love nothing else matters.

love happens when you feel like sharing more than ur body to the one you love, you will share your soul.
It is something no one will be able to explain to you until u feel it by yourself.
love is something once u experienced it, there will be a change in your life. IT will be joy as much as tears.
ATTRACTIVENESS, BEAUTY, TIME PASS, REAL SYMPATHY does not mean love.
you will find the real meaning of love when you will be really in loved.

if you want the science / evolution answer - love is a way of keeping to parents together, this is needed because a human child needs a very long time to learn the skills needed to survive in human culture and to survive on its own. Also one parent will go out and gather food/shop/work while the other looks after the vunerable child.

while this trait was developing in the past it made more sense because in those times a single mother would be easy prey to predators and vunerable while not guarding the child.

but as im in love myself, i think this is not the whole truth - it doesnt explain some peoples choice of partners for example

Love happens because someone or two people feel a special feeling toward one another. They may feel sexy or sweet or athletic around the other person. Whichever it is the other person makes them feel beautiful/handsome, and love-worthy.
