I am going on an 8-day Eastern Carribean cruise. I'd like to do some things on my own for a few hours, but not be tied down to what the cruise line offers in the way of shore excursions. The islands I will be going to are: USVI, BVI, Antigua and the Bahamas.

dont know about the Bahamas, but you can do all the above on STT, Tortola and Antigua......a word of caution on mopeds....we drive on the left on all three islands mentioned...we drive real fast and not that well......big trucks, busses, taxis; roads arent that good; very twisty and some killer hills. Tourists on mopeds scare me to death each time I run...well, bad word, lets say meet them on the road....it wont be a relaxing experience for you......imagine NYC or Boston drivers in San Fransisco and doing it on 2 and 1/2 world roads and on the left at 40 MPH....

jet skis caqn be rented at Bolongo Beach Hotel or at Marriots Fremchmans Reef ( big hotel on the right as your ship comes into St Thomas).........for something that is way off the beaten track and small and relaxing and not done by hardly anyone, sign up for the bike tour of Water Island when you visit ST Thomas.Water Island is .a huge island with hardly anyone on it, no cars, historic ruins, a great beach bar for lunch at Heidis and no hordes of tourists; get to see how life on a Tropical Island should be.....oh yeah did I mention that on some days In Season there are up to 10,000 criuse ship passnegers dumped on ST T which only has 50,00 people..can we say ZOO, boys and girls?

It depends what specific islands you will be visiting. The US Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas are a series of islands. Antigua is the only individual island you listed.
