For beef stew in a slow cooker set on low, it should take about 8 hours.

I've found that if it cooks too long, more than 10 hours, the meat's texture will change and become kind of dry and gritty when you chew it. This also occurs with pork and chicken.

Yes, as long as the stew was hot when you put it in the slow cooker.

YES. I hoped you used Reynold's slow cook liners so that you don't have to scrub the pot. I just bought some more of them this morning for a pot roast that I will make tomorrow. I wouldn't use the slow cooker without them. (They are about $2.00 for a box of four).

Your stew meat should be just fine , although your vegetables might get a little over mooshy if left in for too long.

Depends on what time is it where you are, now. If you're leaving meat and veggies in there for longer than 4 hours, you might come home to a great big batch of goop.

Congrats! I love my crockpot and you will too! Last week I made a huge beef pot roast and yesterday I used the left over meat (shredded) to make rolled tacos.. Yum
