I don't think you're going to get a proper answer for your question here. Most of the responses you already have are inaccurate. Anyone with any real skill (not just watching UFC) will not impart their knowledge to someone in public over the internet. I suggest you find a competent instructor and learn properly.

Why would anyone want to K.O. someone. If your reason is that you are weaker than the others than I should tell you.
If you want to kill someone than you should hit him in "Adam's apple" (that is the spot right bellow chin), but if you don't want to kill him my preposition is that you hit him in chin (right or left side it doesn't matter) but you hit must be strong or else your hit won't have purpose.
It also matter how your body is positioned. If you hit with right hand (like I do) you must pull back your right leg for a 15-25 cm (or I think 12 - 17 inches) than you swing your body along with your hand and transfer all mass to 1 point in your hand and that is your fist. Than or he will be K.O. or he will be staggered out than if happens this second thing you just punch him several more times and he will surely be K.O.
There are 2 more things you must know and both are more important from the way you hit, and those are:
1. Always (remember ALWAYS) hit first (don't be a pu**y)
2. Newer miss
I once missed a gay and didn't end very good. Learn on my mistakes.

Some of these are good ideas, but if you are looking for the fastest way to knock someone out, if you train hard and consistently with it, then the temple is the best place, as some earlier said. The chin will dislocate if you hit it. Yes, it will hurt like the dickens, but knock out, I cant say I have ever seen that happen. But the Temple is a definite knock out point. Yes, it is a pressure point. hitting someone between the legs is just going to cause a lot of pain. Hitting the Adams apple or the throat can easily cause the windpipe to be damaged or death, if hit hard enough.

a lot of people faint at the sight of there own blood?espeicaly mc dojo 20 year old 5th dan martial arts know it alls(some are even younger) the first time they get in a real situation and get hit.this is 1 reason why a lot of people have a bad view of martial artists.(we all get painted with the same brush-human nature)if your in a situation that gets so bad that you have to or want to knock someone out youve let the situation go to far at this stage its time to get serious-send them to hospital-do the job properly.(not what the law says though.)as someone said though i'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

if you use a baseball bat on the head you will kill them. then you will be bed mates with the hard criminals and doesnt that paint a nasty picture...
you are an 'uncool cookie' for even thinking you can hit a head with a bat and they will only be knock out... just last month a guy was beaten with one and died from the internal bleeding a few suburbs away from my place.
if you must use one, aim for the knee area. though the beautiful thing about karma is that if you use one, and fail to injure them, they will get it off you and then you are dead.
DONT USE A BAT. stop going to places that require one for protection.
As for the TAZER suggestion, if you can get one, use it. who cares if it is legal, a baseball bat to the head is going to get you a worse charge in court.
if you want to knock them out them practise upper cuts to perfect the 'king hit', which knocks the head up from the neck, causing nerve shock and a K'O.

If you don't want to kill them, don't use the bat anywhere on their head. But if you must...in a jabbing motion (don't swing like Ken Griffey Jr) hit them on the temple. But I've found a taser gun will leave even the biggest fellas on the ground. Only if it's legal where you are.

On the head right where the skul connects to the spine. You don't have to hit too hard just to knock someone out.

between the eyes on the chin or on the jawbone im not sure but i think u can hit someone in the temple and knock them out 2

Well the best "sweet spot" is right beside the chin on the jaw bone...on either side. Who are you trying to knock out?
