best thing to do is not feed him/her.....you will find when they are hungry they will eat.....offer bubs their dinner if they refuse it then give bubs dessert or whatever you would normally give him/her......they cannot allow themselves to starve so dont worry....
the other thing you can do is get rid of any snacks between meals...to help increase their appetite....

I bet the child is either getting a cold or teething. If it's been going on for a long time ( a week or more), you may want to call the Dr. In the meantime, offer him/her foods they like, even in small portions, and as long as the child is having regular bowel movements and wet diapers, they won't get dehydrated or starve.
You can also try things like milkshakes or Ensure type drinks w/ vitamins & minerals. They make a certain kind for children. You'll find them in drug stores and places like Wal-Mart.

Little kids eat better if you turn eating into a game. Try games like calling the spoon an aeroplane carrying passengers (food) into the landing area (child's mouth). That's one example but there are million others, just use your imagination.
They also eat better if they choose their own plate and if you set their meals nicely. Try engraving a smiley face into their food for instance.

My greedy 1 and a half year old daughter will any and everything except her vegetables! She loved vegetables as an infant. Now I give her baby jars of veggies and I give those to her first and she eats them up. I give her the meat etc. after she has eaten the veggies. Just keep trying different foods, like grilled cheese, chicken strips, etc. Also try to eat right in front of the little one since they usually love to mock us. Good luck, just keep trying, when the baby gets hungry, he/she will eat!

If they get hungry enough, they WILL eat.

Try giving the child choices, if they get to pick what they are eating, they might enjoy eating more.

This could be just a stage or something more serious. If it's been going on a long time, consult your child's doctor.

Is there a reason they are not eating? Are they trying to punish you for something?

It's probably just a phase.

I just went thru this not long ago. I have twin boys who are 21mths. I tried variety and I tried just giving them their regular meals with no snacks. What worked for me was letting them do it themselves. Now they eat and are happy. I still think giving variety is good as well and always continuing to giving them food, even if they don't like it at first.

did you brst feed your baby? not that i want to know, but that could be a big question as to why. the baby may not want to give up something that is familiar to them and having something foreign may be upsetting them..my daughter was the same way..i tried giving her several little things on her tray like..peas, cherioos, very softly cooked carrots, mashed potatoes, etc.. and i played a game with her..every time she wouldnt eat, i made it seem really fun...squish the peas or mashed potatoes on your nose, she thought that was funny..then do it to them..it may be messy, but you may get your baby to start eating...good luck..

Same problem here. Proabably your kid is teething?. Well i beleive that they have everything coming without asking for it so they know they will not starve. As long as they dont fall sick and they keep running around they are fine.
Would you beleive my 11 yr old dog does the same thing

bring a chair swing . fit the baby in the swing and sing rhymes and songs and never force the child to finish the whole stuff. let him eat on his own.
