Ideas for a wine themed christmas gift?

I would like to give my son and daughter-in-law a unique gift consisting of nice wine and food related items. Any ideas?

Craft store for nice basket....wrap it w/ ribbon on handle or something. Some fake grass or straw like material.

Nice bottle of wine in center....nice pair of tall fluted glasses, one on each side. Some nice cheese, crackers, meats. Add in maybe a common wine list of what foods and wines go together. Maybe add in a wine club membership or info.

Could even do all this in a ice bucket that is real nice instead of a basket as well.

Baskets work well for wine gifts. Choose a bottle of red and a bottle of white and center them (perhaps in some holly for the Christmas season). Surround the bottles with different types of cheeses. Some items you may consider that are very unique: A CO2 bottle opener--it's an air-powered corkscrew- really neat and makes opening simple. Also, include some "stemless" wine glasses. These are the new trend and they are much less fragile--get 2 red wine and 2 white wine glasses or just red if you're on a budget. If you're looking for an original wine type, try Malbec. It's an Argentinian red grape and it has a very smooth finish. They are very reasonably priced to boot.

Find a small wine rack (about 6 bottles) and stock it with different wines from different countries. Find a wooden wine crate (ask at a local wine store) and place the rack inside of it. I was going to suggest placing different cheeses and olives around it but the only problem with that is, you have to buy them a day before or else they may go bad before they get a chance to eat them. There's always the option of getting prepackaged stuff but it doesn't taste the same. Maybe surround the rack with some funky wine corkers, some nice wine glasses and those little trinkets you put on the bottom of wine glasses so everyone knows who's is who's and some unique pictures that have to do with wine or vineyards that they can hang above the area where they keep their wine.

The basket thing is a good idea.
A really nice wine opener, like the kind that sit on the counter as a somewhat permanent fixture is good too.
There are lots of really neat bottle holders too. The little waiter men that hold the bottles and of course entire shelving that looks pretty.
Cheese and fruit and if they like red wine maybe some dark chocolate.

You can make a nice basket but here is an European x-mas tradition. Glögg (Scandinavia) Glühwein (central Europe) and ginger bread cookies. You can maybe some ready-spiced wine when you only heat it hot garnish with almond chips and raisins and drink up with ginger bread cookies or pumper nickels.

If you don't find glögg ready do it yourself. Get some berry juices black currant, blackberry, cranberry or so mix a quart of them and heat them to boiling add few whole cinnamons, 20 whole glowers, chips of peel pomerance and 1 whole ginger chopped(no powders to keep it clear) boil some 15 minutes. Dont worry if you dont have some ingredients.

Add a quart of cheap dry (the dryer the better) red wine and bring to boil, sugar to taste, sieve to glasses or mugs with garnishes in and enjoy. Now its about 6 % volume alcohol = strong beer. If you want it stronger, vodka or brandy can be used as additional "garnish", remember to sugar it a bit more then and do not heat these.

wine and an assortiment of cheese. Cliche' huh. However, if it were me i would just like to have the wine, like a merlot or cab. or shiraz. It would also be nice to have some wine paraphanila such as an assortment wine glasses for various wines, short and stubby for the red, adn long and thin for the white wines.

A nice gift might be a picnic basket or backpack loaded with wine accessories and wine.
