You're a good friend, try and get him to talk to a professional, he's obviouosly fighting these demons off,, yikes he needs help big time, does not seem like he's a total sicko cause he would have probably assulted her by now. Him being 18 his hormones are all over the place , somethings obviously not right in his mind , chemical inbalance man i don't know, get him to go to someone before he does tell his sister or worse,, he can't control himself any longer and forces himself onto her.

I think thats a bad problem, that needs fixing. I've been in a similar situaltion. My best friend and his first cousin were on the wrong sides of the love line. I was going out with his cousin at the time..and well he kinda caused some problems. But that was years ago, all in the past now. I really hope you can help him sort this one out.

At eighteen he needs to be an adult. A love affair with his sister will only cause a lot of problems for the both of them. Sometimes we see a family member as the perfect personification of who we want to be with. But then we have to look elsewhere for a love relationship.

This happened to a friend of mine and his sister, too. It ended up being a very bad situation: pregnancy, abortion, legal action...it was awful. Both lives were seriously impacted and neither one has recovered yet (8 years now).
In most states, if he has sex with his sister, he's committing rape. You may want to approach your school counselor and ask for advice on what, if anything, you can or should do about this.

You're friend is perfectly healthy male. What people here don't realize is that all people on earth are the result of incest. It's just in large populations you no longer need to, the argument from "birth defects" ignores the evidence of evolution and especially DNA. Not to mention the observable everyday evidence, fractal similarity in human body shape across the entire human species.
Next I quote: ",,, one in five attested couples in Middle Egypt consisted of brothers and sisters (Bagnall and Frier 1994). The
incidence of incest in the city of Arsinoe in the Fayum was higher
still, indicating that virtually every man with a living younger sister
married her instead of someone from outside the family. At that level, this custom must have assumed the function of a cultural norm (Scheidel 1995)."
Even if you're religious or not, you only have two choices: The first people/animals had to have sex with someone to get us here. 1) Incest or 2) Bestiality and interspecies sex.
You have no alternatives, people just don't want to think about it because it's true, and from our stupid modern cultural standpoint "disgusting".
Most people responding here don't rationaly think with their minds, they have an emotionally programmed or culturally programmed response as a result of evolution or habituated automatic behaviour from cultural influences. There is no rational reason why two healthy people can't screw each others brains out no matter what relation they have to each other, if you're against incest logically you should be against homosexuality too, it's inconsistent morality! If gays can't choose who they are attracted to, then neither can this boy to his sister. Cuts both ways now doesn't it?
Think about homosexuality, their is no justification that incest is evil, people will justify their animal prejudices (emotions) by backwards rationalizing toward a reason why it is wrong after the fact. Incest is like homosexuality was last century, it's eventually going to become accepted whether people like it or not. Science trumps any superstition. With cloning on the horizon and designer babies it's for certain everyone who is against it here will be considered barbarians by future generations.
He should keep it to himself if his sister can't handle it, some sisters who are intelligent can. But we live on a planet of immature human beings. All the responses in this thread are pretty immature in my opinion. He needs to just be honest with himself, by indirectly finding out how she feels about it, he's should fake doing a study on incest and he's supposed to get peoples reactions to it. If he and his sister are really that close, then nothing he says should affect her, if she's mature enough. She should be able to deal with it just fine, without looking down on him. So many people in this world are unloved and shunned because of looks or some other negative attribute because people are basically still in the feral stage of their evolution.
It's not a popular answer but: No his feelings are not wrong, she is female, he is male, this is the most basic biology. Lastly evolution chooses who you are attracted to, you don't. Does anyone "think themselves" into attraction for someone? Of course not.

That is really gross.
Make sure that he doesn't ever tell her. If my brother ever told me that he had feelings for me in that way, I don't think I would ever talk to him again. That is not something you could ever forget or get over. It would be very scarring for me & I would be so creeped out, I would get a restraining order and try to avoid him for the rest of my life.
He needs help, seriously. He needs to seek a professional and go through some counseling.
If he tells her, it could ruin their relationship for life (unless she is sick too & likes him also, but I doubt it) and if any of him family found out, I'm sure they would disown him.
But anyway its very wrong, he needs help, and he should definently not tell his sister.

Are you serious? Are they like step of half or anything besides full blood bro and sis? That's just not right. Does he have a lot of problems at home? Any prior sexual or physical abuse? I just can't fathom that happening unless there were strange circumstances involved. I mean you are around your siblings your whole life and you look at them as family. People w/ healthy mentalities are not attracted to family members. I'm thinking there is something desperately wrong with his family life and upbringing. Suggest therapy.

Although love is unconditional, I think that one should understand that love, like yahoo q&a, is also divided into categories. In terms of passionate & romantic love it is just sick to be in love with a sibling etc. Incest, to me, is truly tragic and is really something which should not be undergone. Everyone has his/her true soul-mate and believe you me, it is not a family member. I think you should try speaking to your friend about this serious problem.

He needs some sort of counseling. One reason is the incest, the other which you noted is his denial towards the issue, two problems right there that need to be resolved to live a healthy mentallity.
