An American living in Tokyo seeks someplace to vacation for a month that's totally laid back. I'm tired of always being on the outside, tired of the grind of Tokyo. Where should I go? What's the most relaxed place you know? I've already spent a lot of time in Thailand. Right now I'm planning on South India, my favorite place in the world. Any other ideas?

The most relaxed place I have been to that made me feel completely laid back is Rarotonga Cook Islands! Thats if you enjoy warm tropical weather and want to get away from the fast pace world.

Rio de Janeiro. If you have $$ stay at Caesers Park in Ipanema Beach. Avoid Copacabana where all the tourists that didn't do their homework stay. Too many hookers and no relaxing.
Ipanaema, Leblon rent a chair for $3real=$1.40 american, and let them serve you drinks/beer/mixed until you grow this permanent smile and keep saying to yourself, that guy was right, cheers.
trust me.

You can come to Singapore. I can be a very good tour guide. You may also want to consider Adelaide, South Australia. It is a nice place to relax especially in the month of Apr to May.

The interior of Mexico or the coast. Very laid back and not expensive at all. You will never want to leave. We just went to Guanajuato and all the surrounding area and it is great. Don't go in the summer though, too hot.
