While linguists quibble over the general number of languages in the world (between 3000 and 8000 in different scientific lists), Ugen's answer is about right for the relative size of Indo-European, no matter what the total number of languages in the world.

There are approximately 7,000 different languages in the world, not counting alternate and dialectal names.

There are 449 languages in the Indo-European family, so using the "exact" value (7,299 - there is always a great deal of uncertainty in the field of linguistics), that's 6.2% of the languages.

Approximately 3 billion people are native speakers of an Indo-European language. The world population is about 6.5 billion, so that's approximately 45% of the people in the world.
