i heard that our government has changed the law and that if u are an elegible alien resident with a green card, and u apply for your american citizenship and all goes fine, in the process u have to give up your original citizenship, doesnt matter which country u are from, hence cancelling dual citizenships... it this really true?

You may not take citizenship of another country but if you are automatically entitled to citizenship of another country you may retain it. The USA had to soften its approach on this in recognition of other countries' claims on their citizens.

However, the USA does not encourage dual citizenship. The main reason is that it can make it very difficult to assist a dual citizen when they are abroad. In that sense, a lot depends on which country you are a dual citizen in.

it never was that you can have double citezenship. it makes no sens. In the eyes of the US gov. you are american nothing else. however some country they still allow you to remain a citizen of that country even when if you become citizen of the USA.

No. That is not true. There are agreements on this with certain countries.
