Neither my husband nor I have any extended family to speak of. No parents, grandparents or siblings that we are close with. My friends would say that I probably don't think family is all that important because I dont associate with the little family that I have left. But, the truth is, I do miss family terribly, I just don't have family members that I am comfortable with or enjoy. My immediate family, my husband and daughter as well as a few close friends mean the world to me. I came into this world alone, and someday I will leave this world alone, having my immediate family and close friends have made my journey worth living, and one that I enjoy immensely. Family gives me a purpose to wake up everyday and face the world with a smile.

Family doesn't mean anything to me personally. Not anymore. There is too much jealousy, contempt, hatred, animosity, lies, fake sentiments, and overall bull coming from those people that my mother gave birth to and I keep away from them because I am not like them. I left home at 17 and joined the military and didn't become a part of the demise of the so called family. I don't talk to or socialize with any of them and I won't change that for any reason. The things that I could tell you about those people!! In a better situation a family is supposed to be a foundation for love, support, encouragement, and wisdom. ANY family who has these things is very fortunate and should treasure each other.

Family is a group of people who love and accept each other no matter what. They love and support one another in very hard times and the good times. Most often they are related like two parents and a couple of kids, but not always.

My family is my soft place to fall when life gets really complicated. It is like a haven or an oasis to me. It serves as my base so I can go out into what can be a cruel hard world, and know my home and family will always welcome me back.

Family means having loved ones who are there for you and care for you just the way you are with no judgements. My family know where I have been and have been there since I was a little child.

Friends I call my family mean the world to me because we have been through shared joys, tears, trials in life- meaning hard times, etc... But they are always there because we love each other like a family.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia- FAMILY

A family of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in 1997.
A family consists of a domestic group of people (or a number of domestic groups), typically affiliated by birth or marriage, or by analogous or comparable relationships — including domestic partnership, cohabitation, adoption, surname and (in some cases) ownership (as occurred in the Roman Empire).

In many societies, family ties are only those recognized as such by law or a similar normative system. Although many people (including social scientists) have understood familial relationships in terms of "blood", many anthropologists have argued that one must understand the notion of "blood" metaphorically, and that many societies understand 'family' through other concepts rather than through genetics.

Article 16(3) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says: "The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State".

As I was growing up as a teenager I was always in trouble but no matter what my mom was always there. She was an alcoholic when I was younger and I had to take care of her when she had her hangovers. then one day I showed her image in the mirror and from that point on she never drank a drop. As i got older and had my children i became very close to my grandmother asking her advice about my marriage and my kids . Shes been married for 56 years and raised 5 kids. Every holiday we all gather at my grandparents and sometimes even just on weekends when we are all in town.We at least call each other daily or send a email or a letter to just hey I love you.My family means the world to me. Unlike my husbands family who never calls him even when he is in the hospital, forgets our kids birthdays along with his. But he is expected to call them on their anniversary. Beats me. My husband loves my family more than his own because my family treats him as if he was one of their own. When one member is in the hospital we all gather at the hospital even if its just for support.Thats what family is.

The family is the apex of successful social relationships. It is a natural bonding between love ones and a form of protection. With out it we lower ourselves to the lowest level of togetherness.Even cockroaches have family unity!

Your family will be the only ones who will ever love you for you. No matter what you do or say they will always welcome you. Family is home, the place you can always go no matter what...

To me family is the purpose for life. What a sad life, to have no family.

Family... simple, persons that is more important than any material things, whom you share each other love, respects, responsibilities, time, problems, persons who you can rely on and accept who you are. also, for being a part of a family, you'll experience many kinds of emotions, like jealousies, happiness, and sometimes you'll have to fight each other. Fighting each other is natural, my remember that its just one of those burdens that you have to pass, and you'll see, after that fight, your relationship to each other will become more stronger. family makes me complete, from here,I learn to establish good manners and habits, and also learning starts from family.
