Unless you mean it's coming off in big clumps, the cat is just shedding. That's what cats do. Comb her regularly to help keep it under control. It's good that she's still young--that will make it easy to get her used to a daily combing.

I had a cat who had this issue and he was a shorthair - he just didn't clean himself enough. You can get special cat food for hairballs that should help and vitamins. You also need to brush him daily with a good brush from the pet store that is made for pulling out loose hair. They do tend to shed when it starts to get colder out too.

buy one of those metal brushes at the pet store and brush your cat daily for awhile and then every other day... This will help decrease the amount of hair in your hand and around your house. IT will also feel good to your cat, decrease hairballs/vomit, and help get dead hair out. I would also recommend that you give your cat wet food once a day to help give your cat a healthy shiny coat, in addition to the dry food.

is the weather warming up?
if it is it probably explains the newly onset heavier shedding- if not its probably just getting rid of its baby fur-
as someone else has suggested- be sure to brush it daily to remove the majority of fur

is it just shedding? because all cats shed.
if it seems to be more hair than just normal shedding, it might be some sort of skin infection and you should take her to the vet.
