This is the basis of hypocrisy . It enables them to lead the life of a materialist while ignoring the more inconvenient teachings of Jesus Christ

I can only speak for myself here. I am save because i gave my life to Jesus and asked Him to forgive some things I have done in my life. things I am not proud of. but even with what I have done I was Forgiven Just by asking Jesus and telling Him all my sins.

As for doing any good works I hope as I grow into a better Christian I can Help more people. help them anyway I can. help them no matter what they believe or don't believe. I Just want to help speard the Love of Jesus I can without shoving my believe on anyone.

There are churches that claim that their good works will get them to heaven. This is making a mockery of Jesus and his saving work on the cross. The Christian that claims that they are saved by grace alone is being humble. We are taught in the bible that it is Jesus who gets the credit for our salvation, because He is the one who suffered and died. We did not earn our salvation, so we cannot take credit for it. It is a free gift.
Eph 2:8-10 God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
We become Christians through God's unmerited favor, not as the result of any effort, ability, intelligent choice, or act of service on our part. However, out of gratitude for this free gift, we will seek to help and serve others with kindness, love and gentleness, and not merely to please ourselves. While no action or work we do can help us obtain salvation. God's intention is that our salvation will result in acts of service. We are not saved merely for our own benefit, but to serve Christ and build up the church.

I personally wont know if I'm saved until I die or Jesus comes back to tell me. However, I am doing good works. I wrote a book that I thought God wanted me to deliver to the world, in order to help him. But after a year of struggle trying to get it published I realized God of all things does not need my help, I need his. And this work I did was for myself, my ego, and my own personal power. So what can I possibly do to make good works, when even I have deceived me.

Ephesians 2:8 : "By grace are ye saved, through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

Kinda says "God will determine who is saved, and nothing you do will influence who God will gift"

Some might interpret that to mean that all they have to do is hold to being a Christian and they have an "in", however the Beatitudes give a different view of who gets into Heaven.

Me, I figure one does good works because one can, doesn't matter your faith, it's your intention, that's all.

this would be a criminal subject. a guy or woman who's to blame of a criminal offense who stands in the previous the choose, can no longer say that he can "earn" a pardon. The choose could be so susceptible to furnish a pardon, in spite of the undeniable fact that it somewhat is no longer interior the hands of the to blame party. in spite of the undeniable fact that, notwithstanding if the choose DID % to furnish a pardon to this criminal, he does no longer be able to achieve this if the criminal refuses to admit his guilt and refuses to end his crimes. Confessing and repenting isn't "works". those are standards without which a pardon can't be granted. yet doing this (confessing, repenting, etc) can in no way "EARN" a pardon, and the choose remains no longer obligated to furnish a pardon. yet (as I already referred to), if the choose have been so susceptible to furnish a pardon - if he replaced right into a sensible and truthful choose, he does no longer be able to furnish that pardon if those standards at the instant are not first met. this is the way it somewhat is with God. He desires to furnish each and everyone human beings an undeserved and unmerited pardon that shall we in no way do something to earn. yet until eventually we admit our guilt, ask Him to forgive us, and function a metamorphosis of coronary heart - a a hundred and eighty degree turn around - He the two can no longer, and could no longer forgive somebody. "we are saved via grace by faith. It (salvation) is a modern-day from God, no longer via works, so as that no-one can boast!" yet forgiveness and ask your self and mercy would desire to effect in doing stable works - as a product - no longer as a reason - of salvation. We do stable works because of the fact we are forgiven, to no longer income forgiveness, as though shall we tell God, "hello, God, seem at me! i'm something particular, and you OWE me!" - it somewhat is what a works-based righteousness is extremely all approximately, and that only won't fly come judgment day.

We are saved by grace because nothing else we personally could do will save us. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

The key to salvation is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and repenting. Does this mean that people who perform good works and are not Christian will not be saved? Yes.

This does not mean that God doesn't want us to perform good works. As Christians God wants us to love everyone and to share that love with others.

It means that Jesus did all the work to gain our salvation by dying on the cross and through His burial and resurrection. It is a free gift of God. We cannot work to attain righteousness or salvation. Good works are the evidence of a changed person - good works are done simply because they should be done and not for personal gain. We do them because we love God and are obedient to His will.

no it doesnt mean they havent done any good works. If a person is truly saved he or she will desire to do good works because of what Jesus has done for us. Living our lives for the one who made a way so we didnt have to go to hell is the least we can do.

It merely means that God is the only one that can "save" someone. Just being a nice guy doesn't get you into the club.

Not by works should any man boast. Don't let ur right know what ur left hand is doing. What is done in secret shall be openly reward from God.
