I had it 3 years ago & I've been very pleased with it. I could see perfectly later that night. Every medical procedure carries risk but if you get a surgeon who has performed the procedure for a long time, I think you should be okay. Check w/ the eye/medical boards in your state and see if they can give you a recommendation. I've known lots of people who have had the procedure & I've never known anyone to have a problem. You could always ask them to do one eye at a time if that makes you more comfortable.

Yes. I had the surgery 6 years ago. Since then the technology has gotten better. Make sure you go to reputable clinic or eye doctor that specializes in the procedure. Ask around and get recommendations from people you know. I went to Lasik Plus in Towson, Maryland. They were fantastic. I was in and out in less than an hour. The procedure itself took about a minute. I could see clearly within a couple of hours (once eye drops wore off). It is one of the best things I ever did. I went from 20/400 (getting worse every year) to 20/20 vision. I never had any problems. I had one friend that had to get one eye redone but then it was fine. That was rare then (and he wasn't charged any extra for it). The doctor will be able to discuss any options available to you and any risks that they carry. I know that chances for negative side effects are very slim. Good luck.

Lasik and Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

I also had it, and I am VERY pleased with the results. It's been a year and a half now. I had no complications. If you can afford it, do it. The procedure is so quick, and painless. My eyes didn't hurt after, and I could see without my glasses right away.

Yes, LASIK is safe. Tho, it, of course, has some risks involved. Thousands of people (like me) are happy with the results. A few have horror stories.
Check it out on wikipedia for more info.
