My friend is large almost 300 lbs but she is starting to act like an anorexic. counts calories, meticulously, and she weighs herself alot, and she has all the signs except for being skinny. She has dropped some pounds already, but im afraid no one will beleive me because shes big. Any opinions?
She used to have a drug/a;cohol prob. had been clean/sober for 60 days./ Now she pops diet pills, east pickles and empty calories, keeps tight records on food intakre, and exercises alot.

A lot are dancers or people with body dismorphia. Fat people usually cant do it. Tip don't go anorexic if your gonna do a crash diet eat like bread because when you stop eating your body builds up the weight and like eats off it. Its easier too lose weight when your eating a little compared too nothing at all. And working out helps a lot it gives you more of a natural healthy look. For your stomach v ups help A LOT. Its like doing crunches but you keep your legs straight.

I would be very concerned for your friend. It does sound like she has an eating disorder. When you don't eat but are not underweight, they call it "Eating Disorder not Otherwise Specified" I know this because I had the diagnosis since I began to not eat while overweight and became anorexic. I later because underweight and then was classified as "anorexic"
But, the label doesn't matter. Your Friend is doing all the things that I did when I began and before I knew it I was only eating 400 calories a day.
This is not just an addictive personality. I see many red flags. Please try and get her some help before it gets to be too late. It took me several years to gain back weight to be healthy.

I don't know if she is anorexic - but she definetly has some problems. The best thing you can do for her is try to steer her in the direction of help. A doctor can help her determine what is going on with her. Or a counselor. It sounds like she has an addictive personality which can lead to more trouble. She obviously isn't happy and this could lead to more than just an obsession with her weight - it could lead to serious depression and even suicidal behavior if she isn't helped. So, as a friend, help her find the help she needs. Good luck.

Anyone with a predispostion to Anorexia can suffer, whether they start out thin, average or fat, whether they are male or female or black or white.
Just keep an eye on your friend, it sounds like she has an addictive personality and this could all too easily get out of hand. Looks to me that now she has given up the drink and drugs, she has turned her obsession to weight loss. If it carries on, urge her to seek professional help. HTH.

It sounds like she has a problem with addictions. Now that she's clean, her addiction is her weight loss. Encourage her to go to a dietician so she can lose weight sensibly and safely. And maybe some counselling would help to understand why she has the issues in the first place.

her life is out of control, because she is out of control. she is trying to take control by doing all these things. It wont work!! it sounds as though she is in a big hurry to make some dramatic changes in her life, but unfortunately, just as things take time to happen (addiction to drugs, weight gain) they also need time for things to go back to normal and that WONT happen overnight!!! your friend needs to see a professional that can help her through this time. as soon as the weight starts piling on again, she will feel bad about herself and start taking drugs again. it's a vicious circle. just tell her to seek out a drug and alcohol counsellor, or seek therapy and go from there, she has a long road ahead of her

no not all anorexics start out fat, anorexia is a disease; when the person feels the need to be thin. even an average weight person can feel the need to be thinner and that can lead to dangerous levels.

one man went from 1200lbs to 900lbs because they starved to death. starvation is not a 'skinny' thing always. Pay close attention to how your friend is eating, and if they get spacy and weak. take them to a DR.
