WE need more info. You're probably young, and don't have a driver's license..rather you have a state issued ID card. They are NOT the same. The ID is used for work issues and to prove who you are...but not to drive. A Driver's License can be used to 1. prove who you are and 2. prove that you can legally operate a motor vehicle in your state.

it has nothing to do with citizenship.

Hi Crank, It means you have a california drivers licenses and you can use it for an I.D. It has nothing to do with american citizenship. If you are not a citizen, ask the DMV where would you go.They should have an address for that.

it shows that you are licenced to drive legally in the us and some other countries that accept it. the cops use it to confirm you are who you are and they are not immigration and have no authority to deport you. goverment authoritys may ask for addition id like a birth certicicate too depends on who and what you are doing

No. Your CDL is only a license to drive. Technically, it can't be used for anything else. And anyone can get one. All you need is a birth certificate. It doesn't even have to be an American one. They just want to be sure you really are you.

well, they often accept the driver's license as proof of your identity and/or citizenship but it doesn't really; the only things that can prove that is your birth certificate or passport, or a green card that says you are a permanent resident, or whatever the heck they give folks when they become citizens.

No, this ID doesn't say that you are a citizen. But it does indicate that you are here legally.
