I am confused as to why you ask that question in "Religion & Spirituality", since you didn't even put a religious slant on it.
Non the less - UFOS are simply "un-identified flying objects". It could be a Frisbee flying over the head of a lost tribe in Africa and they could not identify it, hence - a U.F.O..., obviously of terrain design -but to the backwards tribesman he will assume its god or the devil or some flying creature.
What we refer to UFOs are still not identified. It doesn't matter if the flying object is shaped like a saucer or a fish-bowl. An airplane of un-identifiable origins, make and model is a U.F.O., and also a U.F.A (Unidentified Flying Aircraft).
The objects shaped like saucers are reported by both, nut-cases, AND, people with valid claims.., the latter are half the time sane professionals with nothing to gain by making reports and everything to lose when knuckle heads insist they were drunk, on drugs or insane.
I hope you see one - and no one believes you. I really do. THEN and ONLY then can you appreciate what risks sane people take in reporting UFOs.

Some might be simply tests of experimental flying craft. But aliens? Air Force pilots have more important things to do than dress up as Greys and give people hell.
The alien abduction phenomenon is just like the Mothman, Spring-heeled Jack, the Jersey Devil, or the many other tales of monsters as "wierdness". Urban legend, hysteria, and the excitement of being part of a big story.

Well, it doesn't really make much sense why the government would fly those things over urban areas and areas where a lot of people could see them. If they're top secret projects, wouldn't they test them out in the desert or somewhere? And also, I believe a lot of UFO reportings actually come out of Mexico, so I don't think that claim holds water. I believe that extraterrestrial life definitely exists but I have no idea what UFO's are. It's an interesting topic nonetheless.

I do believe that the government has used some UFO sitings to cover up secret projects. I saw a show on the History channel addressing this issue and a guy who had supposedly been in Area 51 spoke about it with his face blacked out.
I also believe that most sitings are just the human imagination though. Much like the Loch Ness Monster, we see what we want to see.

I'll say that I agree with you.
It could be a cover-up or it could be imagined.
It does seem to be some sort of secret project, but for what purpose? I don't fully understand that part.

My mom was approached by these so called aliens. Now wild blueberries grow in a perfect circle in the Field. This is where she was overwhelmed by a light from the sky. It was a very frightening experience for her.

I don't think so the American military is stretch very thin and under a great deal of scrutiny. It just doesn't have the current capacity to pull off any kind of hoax at this point, and surly not
one that large.

There is certainly a government cover up. Wheather they are covering up new aircraft or technology, or simply they have evidence that aliens exit, we will not know. But there is a definite cover up.
Cheers!

Sometimes a coverup, sometimes imagined but...sometimes ?
I have seen two programs on tv about USO's. These were the most intriguing.
