All communities have free or low cost mental health services for people with no resources. Please call your local Mental Health Clinic and ask. There's nothing to be ashamed of and tell them how bad it is. don't sugar coat it or they will put you off because there is always someone out there in worse shape. Don't be the hero...be the wreck that you are and don't hold back. Cry or beg or whatever it takes to get the help you need. Other people get it so, you can too! You really have to tell them the worst to get them to react and I'm not kidding. It's sad but true. I know, my daughter is in the field. The squeeky wheel gets the grease. Always. So, get squeaky! I wish you luck and pray for help and you are going to make the call and be in the terrible shape that you are in and maybe even worse tommorrow ok? ok.

I understand what you mean.
Although, you might be able to find alternative treatments. I've heard that the B-complex vitamins can be very useful. I had a friend that was taking St. John's Wort, & it helped her quite a bit. Also, you might try to find an online support group of people who suffer from depression or try talking with others or doctors at mental health web sites like psychcentral.com.
I know that many Psychology departments at colleges treat the public. You could probably get a discounted rate or you might try a free clinic if there is one in your area. Also, I'm curious about this $4 generix perscription thing at Wal-mart pharmacies. You might be able to look into that.
Other things you can do are to talk with your friends and family. You might try yoga or look into some self-help books. Listen to the music you love, do something that you are passionate about. You might try volunteering in your community.
If you are religous, you should pray, get involved with your church or maybe even talk to your pastor/etc. about it.
Don't give up. Depression is difficult, but know that you are not alone & that things can get better. I wish you much luck.

Please don't turn to alcohol or drugs because it really will make it worse. Make sure you go to the ER if you get to that point. A lot of people have medical bills they have to make payments on and you are a lot more important than worrying about money.
This may sound like a long shot but when I was in the hospital for depression I was given fish oil pills among other meds because fish oil is supposed to be a mood stabilizer. I also know I met people in there that didn't have insurance or money to pay so look on the Internet (research) or call the on call nurse to see how you can get help in your situation.

I have for about 4 years now. And being a teen father and mom imagine its a level. i visit't get excited over something, or perhaps as i do not i'm entering into problem for having an ideas-set. i'm starting up to lose acquaintances because they'll visit different colleges the following in about 6 months and that i visit't see them. I stay in an section i do not want to stay. and that i lots of the time can't stand my relations. certainly I take care of it by technique of listening to music. Its the in basic terms component that enables me get faraway from issues. yet Im starting up to study that secluding myself isn't helping with the problem. i'd get a counselor, yet do not tell your acquaintances or relatives. enable or not that is one component you should your self. i'm hoping issues get more effective perfect for you

Keep going to different GPs until you find one that can refer you to a psychologist or counsellor that is free or covered by any health insurance your or your family have.
Try reading a book called "life and how to survive it". Its very funny, and puts things into perspective.
In the mean time, stay off the drugs and alcohol (or at least use in moderation), and cut down caffeine and sugar. And drink more water. When your body improves, your mind won't be as stressed, so that should help even just a little.

Depression is an illness which needs to be treated by a doctor with meds. Besides going for walks and doing deep breathing exercises, talking to a friend, joining a support group and volunteering in a hospital, there's not much else you can do,
It's an imbalance in your brain, the receptors don't get the messages through and only meds can correct that.
Please go to a doctor, tell them, he might even have samples for you to try, and you won't believe the difference it will make in your life.

I have been doing the same and I am on 3 different meds. They don't really work for me. I feel sad and depressed all the time and I have thought alot of sucide. I do use the computer alot to try to get this off my mind. Some of the meds may work for you. If you can't afford them, go to you social services and they may be able to help you. Get involved in some activity that is really meaningful to you. Try to become an expert at something.
Drinking booze sure doesn't help.
Get professional help. For some things, depression being one of them, professional help is really manditory. If you try to self-medicate yourself with advice you hear online you may make the problem worse. Don't be led astray, invest in yourself. You are worth the money it would take to get some professional help.

I go through the Andrews Center. They are alot of help and free. If you have any kind of Center like them around just go hope there and tell them your situation and they will help as much as they can. I see a counselor 2 a month and that helps alot. I wish you all the luck. I know how it is to live with depression.

Let it consume you...
Depression grips with icy claws… Tearing painfully through flesh as it eats steadily towards the heart of it’s victim. Depression goes from a feeling to a way of life as easily as a narcotic becomes a habit. At least it’s something to feel. Always there, to be relied upon in times of trouble. Almost the antithesis of comfort yet comforting in it’s reliability.
Depression does not know joy or contentment as it smothers all. Conquering and pillaging through a persons mind in a ferocious onslaught. It is so very hard to fight and so easy to succumb. It wants all to give in. It wants us all to let it control, destroy. Until a person becomes a shell. Walking flesh going through the motions of daily life.
The habitually depressed are the joyless. Trying so very hard to obtain some feeling of happiness. A small tidbit of glee from this icy grip of reality. Booze helps a little but the bottle runs out. Drugs help a little till the dealer gets busted. Sex works as long as it works. When it’s over, the vice of choice has run its course… it’s there. It’s always there. Snickering.
Peering through the darkness. Lurking in the shadows awaiting a soul to devour. Stalking. Trying so hard to break free. Every kind word helps and every bit, even the tiniest sliver of negativity can send a roller coaster of pain. Outside the wall is up. Strength. Stability. Even honor. Inside emotions and worthless mind banter reign in self destruction.
Peace is more important than understanding. Others don’t have to understand. Just accept. Help. Please help. Oh God help. Or leave us alone. Just don’t make it worse. The depressed are vacuums, sucking in all the good times… Trying to hold on in anticipation for the next one. Hoping for some form of adoration that never comes. Loosing hope…
Love isn’t real. Joy is a farce. Happiness is nothing more than a brief lean on a crutch. (Depression can’t mess with a high junkie.) The roller coaster makes frequent stops. Not sure where the end is. Want to get off. This ride isn’t fun anymore. It hurts. Make it stop. Must have peace, at any cost. Don’t have enough to buy it. Peace. Priceless. Unattainable.
Observing others. Lemmings. Don’t have any REAL problems. Our pain is bigger than anyone else’s. It’s a gargantuan chasm. An ocean. Space. Big. Depression is bigger than we are and that’s why we are powerless against it. Depression goes from a feeling to a way of life as easily as a narcotic becomes a habit. Wishing for the pain to stop.
