I bought a brand called SAS, very expensive, but they cushion and I especially bought them because they do not slip. They cost me $125 six years ago. But I stll have them, and they are worth the price. I bought them shortly after wrenching my back to avoid falling on a floor that was greasy, I had slipped. The back injury cost me several days pay.

Peace.

Have you considered orthotics? Inserts that can be prescribed by a podiatrist that are speficially for your feet OR there are also over the counter inserts that work pretty well.

As for soles, those can be changed too. You can buy the shoes you like, then take them to a cobbler and have them modified.

Look in catalogs for law enforcement, military, medical, etc.... those shoes need to be safe thru all situations.
Good luck

Dr. Martens - I own several pairs and love them. Sometimes I can find them at www.overstock.com
I got a pair there once for $33.00 Just be aware the Dr. Martens sizes run differently, I think I take an 8 here and a 6 in Docs. Try them on in a store first.

I have worked in nursing homes and waiting tables for over 20 years, my mom and grandma worked in hospitals forever it seems- we all wore nursemates- they are great, good support, cushy soles and plenty of traction- but really any good uniform or nursing shoe will work- try a uniform store or ask at a good shoe store

They are called "Klogs"....they are the absolute best. They are about $60, non slip, cushion, and allow your feet to breath. I am on my feet > 12 hrs per day. I have spent hundreds of dollars on shoes my entire life, and finally found Klogs. I am buying a second pair only because i"m afraid someday they may stop making them.

Buy Dansko, and go under occupational category. They do have waterproof shoes. Clogs are great too.

Sas is excellent, but they are all leather and if they get wet and greasy they are ruined.
