our chart music is mostly American, our mature music (25+) is a even mix of British and Australian, Our Australian bands are infulenced mainly by the Brits (our successful bands)

America dominates our tv's, news, sitcoms, reality shows, soaps, but we don't really get a choice in that - the sad influence from it is the violence our younger ones are now showing,

fashion of the girls is similar to the English girls especially the club scene fashions, although due to the heat our fashions are generally just very casual and fashion is generally not a huge part of what aussies are.

We play cricket, footy - union, soccer and league, with the English along with the commonwealth games (which involves the entire commonwealth of course).

Our humour is similar to the Brit's so their comedy sells well here along with their movies.

Our government, medical and immigration policies are very in line with the UK, along with our council housing system......for a generalisation of the "influence" sadly most our youth don't bother to educate themselves enough to understand that we are part of the commonwealth and not an American clone and this is reflected in modern time with their disrespect to the Aussie/British way shown with violence, gangs, and a decline in their enthusiasm for Aussie values and culture.

Music, TV and cinema influences are mostly from the US.

Most of the songs in the US Top 40 form the Australian Top 40 with some of our own artists like Rogue Traders, Wolfmother, Eskimo Joe and the Veronicas.

Some of the movies currently being shown are The Devil Wears Prada, Crank, Boytown and Saw 3.

Sport is mainly English/British - cricket, soccer, Rugby League and Union. Australian Rules Football was devised in Australia by Tom Willis who called for a "foot-ball club" with a "code of laws" to keep cricketers fit during winter. The National Basketball League imports players mainly from the US to fill their 'import quota'. Horse Racing is very popular with the biggest race in the country - the Melbourne Cup - being held tomorrow - this race will stop the nation as almost every Australian will watch and bet on the race. And last, but not least, Swimming is extremely popular especially since a number of world and olympic records are held by Australia swimmers - that battle in the pool between Australia and the US is fabulous.

The current fashion trends are influenced by both the US and the UK but probably more by the US. Our magazines carry photos of overseas celebrities and what they are wearing.

there are influences of both types here in Australia. Not enough british and way, way to much American
We should be proud of being Australian and not have to put up with American way of life. We never had halloween here before now it is all over the place., the were no such thing as skate parks and men didn't wear baseball hats on backwards. Not like today. Honestly I might seem backward but what is the point of wearing a hat like that??? It is meant to keep the sun off your face and out of your eyes.

To be honest I feel that we aren't influenced by the british enough, I mean we are in parliment, sport and some tv but in other ways like clothes-YOUNG MALES its bought in by americans because they think that the gangster style clothes are cool, let me say that they aint cool in any way shape or form, all they do is make you look like someone that belongs in a ghetto somewhere, or somewhere like St Kilda......any way more british influence would be good.
