Here's what I know works:
Sign into a mental ward. After you've been diagnosed and are treated within the hospital and they feel you're stable enough to be released, you'll be realeased with a treatment plan which should include a case worker who will help you file for disability.
The paper work can take a year to be approved.
Want to avoid the hospital? If it's on record that you've been diagnosed with bipolar, the docs that made the diagnosis can hook you up with a case worker. Or, just go to the local social security building and get the paper work.
Hang in there.

Ive been on disability for bi-polar for a couple years now. Im not exactly sure about what the criterias are but when i signed up for it i had already seen over 10 docters and been in many hospitals. Anyways i went to my local social security office and asked for all the paper work that i would need... then i filled them out and so did my Psychiatrist and therapist and i sent them on there way. A couple months later i was seen by a state Psychiatrist and then a couple more months later i was approved. There really is a whole lot more to it but thats just the jist. Its VERY VERY hard to get on disablity, i have an aunt who signed up the time time as i did for her emphasima, she actually carrys oxegen with her and she also need a walker to walk. Anyways she was denied it. The best bet i would say if you really want to be on it is to get a lawyer to help you. It may work better. Binder and Binder... They have helped many of people. Good luck

i should have it too, but they gave me disability for being deaf, but I'm older than hell and there is no evidence that this is anything other than a modern disease that doctors made up lately, i'm not saying it doesn't have an identity but only that it is caused from stress of todays world. if you can go anywhere to get good books on it there are plenty of things to research for your own benifit as well as who to self diaignose what your dealing with so you can define some of it and express your limitations of other things that run wild or are happening unexspectedly. after you know where your at then you can see if your canidate for their programs to help you, if your not seeing a doctor for it have an exam.

This is a very good blog, a beginner’s guide to abnormal psychology.
Short, clear and simple; and you can even post your question and contact the author regarding particular subject you are interested in
