You shouldn't straighten your hair when its wet. That does a lot of damage on your hair.

I have heard of wet2straight, but it probably wouldn't be a good idea to use because of the damage it could cause. I would suggest blow drying your hair straight first, using a round bristle brush (Cheap $5 ones are PERFECT...) then apply a heat guard like "CHI 44 Iron Guard" (Grey bottle, Red top. Can find at most salons... a little pricey but very worth it) and then straighten where needed... NOT YOUR WHOLE HEAD.
Straighteners in themselves are damaging to your hair, no matter what brand, how cheap/ expensive, or how much they promise to not damage... and that is because when you straighten your hair, you are applying a LOT of heat and then pulling on your hair, weakening it. If you must use a straightener religiously, regularly trim your hair to rid it of split ends, invest in a GOOD conditioner, and don't style your hair if you are not going anywhere that day... to give your hair a "day off". Sorry to preach, but I have seen way too many people ruin their beautiful hair by using products that promise to do exactly opposite of what they REALLY do... hope I helped

It won't, if you get a good one, like BaByLiss. It will be about 100 bucks, but SO worth it. If you get a crappy one from Wal-Mart, you WILL fry your hair in about a month or 2.
