Don't overwhelm him with a lot of space right away. I would want him in my bedroom and wherever you decide he should have a small space of his own with all his needs. Have him out and about whenever you can be with him and supervise his explorations (he lives very close to the floor so it must be hazard-free). It's amazing what they can crawl under and behind if they are frightened and feel the need to hide. He will let you know when he has reached a comfort level to take on more spaces in your home.
Feed him quality canned food. Kittens love it and the meat is a more natural food for an obligate carnivore like the cat and what his mother would have weaned him to. Male cats should never have diets of dry food only. Use it to supplement the meat. Nutro makes a good canned kitten food. Any other quality food is just fine it does not have to be special "kitten" food. Solid Gold, Felidae, Natural Balance, Eagle Pack are all quality foods. Everything you can pick up at the grocery store is poor quality food. Some quality foods are more expensive and some are about the same as the poor foods.

I am sure that you will be getting lots of good advice, but one thing you really should do is get another kitten about the same age for your baby to play with, Kittens play very rough and they need to learn that biting and scratching hurt, or sometimes they will continue doing this all through their life.
I would suggest you go to whykittensshouldbeadoptedinpairs. It is put out by the PAWS organization based in Chicago. I am sorry I don't know their website address, but this is a very good article.

Put a litter box in your room, make sure the kitten knows it is there, then cuddle that baby up to you a prepare for the best night's sleep you've ever had.
