i asked the same sort of question when i was new to yahoo answers....and i do beleive that the people who are nasty and vulger and ignorant...really do not have more than 1 brain cell...that is why they cant answer a question properly....they will just put anything to get 2 stupid points instead of thinking twice about wether or not they are going to hurt that persons feelings...granted this is a free site and you cant put what you want....but please a bit of thought for others peoples feelings doesnt cost anything....i feel strongly about these people too can you tell lol...take no notice and let them get on with their sad little lives....

In my whole 3 days of yahoo!answers, I haven't seen any rudeness!

I thought this forum was generally very well-behaved, but then, that might be since those ignorant, nasty gits have been removed :)

It probably depends on the category as well. Most of the geeky categories i click on are probably frequented by people who are too concerned with their homework to be rude hehe.

I think people are rude to others here because they get their kicks that way. As for abuse reports, they get a violation notice and lose points. Unfortunately, the abuse reports appear to do very little oftentimes. I still see people being nasty here, and who knows how many abuse reports are done purely out of spite(that in itself is rude).

You said it...because they're ignorant and nasty! And a bit stupid I would say.....
About the abuse, I think NOTHING happens. I complained against someone who was simply calling the Christians "stupid", simply like that, without any motivation, and the "question" never went away....

... It's nowhere near as bad as it used to be, trust me! But sometimes people's sense of humor isn't always in synch, shall we say. Sometimes questions are actually serious when they look like jokes, but I guess you mean the ones that are clearly out to insult or cause trouble.
Yahoo investigates reports as fast as they can with the staff available (remember that a free service cannot carry a limitless salary bill) and report back to you. The more people who report an item, usually the faster it is removed.

They probably think its so funny and cool, nothing much else to do than go round abusing others, you can bet your bottom dollar they are cowards and would never have the guts to say it to someones face in the real world, no idea what happens to them, hopefully a life ban from YA answers, we can live in hope.

Unfortunately there are always going to be people like that about.
I think if a user is reported for a Violation points are deducted and i have heard users write of some being banned, but im not sure.

Because it is much easier to hide behind a monitor and hurl abuse hopefully hurting a complete stranger, i bet the abusers are timid little mice in reality!

because they are anonymous to us and alas we don't know them personally or face-to-face. and as they are online, they assume that by being rude and nasty to others, none of us will be unable to answer back or for that matter respond to that derogatory answer they've given. they're lucky that they're not saying all that crap to us in our faces and in person because if they knew who we were and if we know who they were, they would probably run a mile or not have the guts to face us. but it shows how spineless, sad and ridiculous they must be.

we would've confronted them and told them off for what they did. they'd also probably get the crap beaten out of them as well.

I think a lot of it is just the nature of the site-it's pretty much a free-for-all.There are quite a few Trolls on here too...I received my very first hate mail today. The way to deal with it is simply to ignore them.
