you dad has a disease..You talking to him is not going to make him stop.. What you need to do is take care of yourself..
check out all-lon. I grew up with an alcoholic father..it was so confusing for me what to feel for him..This organization will help you and your family deal with issues you will have, and how to cope. (You can't make him go to AA..or force him to stop..he needs to do this on his own, on his own free will)
good luck

How very sad. My dad was, too. You need a good support group and maybe some professional help, as well, as some here have suggested. Suggest that your mom and sister join you. Dad is ill. He is probably not going to get better. Protect yourself and your family when he is drunk. Love him when he is sober. And, watch out: alcoholism seems to run in families. Don't drink, don't take drugs. Good luck and God bless.

have you ever heard of alanon? or Alateen?
It is for family of friends of people with addiction problems ...drinking.
Is there a way you can vidio tape him with out him knowing it when he is drunk? If so do it and on a good day show it to him. People who drink like this don't have any idea of how they act when they have had too much to drink.
Alanon saved my sanity. Get to a meeting and get some books to read. It will help.
Your dad is fortunate to have a daughter who loves him this much.
Do you have any adult that you trust enough to talk to. Your dad needs some rehab. He needs help.

I would casually remark - when he is sober - that you like him sober better. Maybe when you are doing something together. Sometimes it is the small thing said that has the biggest impact. See how that goes for awhile but don't do anything that you know will make him angry.

I would take pictures, and record him when he is that way, so he can see what he is doing when drunk and pray for him to change. Maybe if he See's these things he will seek the help he so badly needs. Don't forget the prayers. there is nothing more powerful than prayer. God be with you all.

first of all your father is incapable of caring about you or your family all he is concerned with is where is the next drink. All of you need to get in touch with AL ANON, look them up in the phone book or on line for a meeting close to you. if all else fails phone AA and they can get you to an AL NON meeting. it does work and will help
