No, it is not covertable...well, it is...you can convert a cell phone to fire .22lr rounds, or anything else, with enough machine work and ingenuity....but for all practical purposes, no.
If you want a makarov, buy one. You can get a Bulgarian for around two hundred. Just make sure you get one of the REAL makarovs....they were only produced in four countries: Russia, East Germany, Bulgaria, and China. Cuba is currently using a makarov, but they are not yet available...gotta wait for the fall of communism, at the earliest, for them...and I have a few hundred bucks just waiting for them to hit the market...I'm getting as many as I can afford!!! Gotta be one of the greatest pistols ever made...the REAL makarovs...not the hungarian or polish pistols-those are not real makarovs. The reason they say "Makarov" on the barrel is because that is the name of the round they fire, 9mm Makarov, much the same way a .243 is written ".243win." or a Glock 22 is marked ".40 S&W"...
