You can create a general template or "look" for the entire presentation; do this in VIEW-MASTER-SLIDEMASTER. Now, if you want to stray from this design on a particular page, you can click FORMAT-BACKGROUND-then click on the little box that says OMIT BACKGROUND GRAPHICS FROM MASTER and make sure to choose APPLY and not APPLY TO ALL. This will give you a plain white page to work with and create a "look" for this one page only. The rest of the pages will still have the general Template that you created in the Master. A simpler way to do this that is basically "cheating" is to first create your master, and then when you want a page with a totally different look. Just make a white (or any other color) box covering the entire page and then go crazy creating a different look for that page only.

I don't think you can do this. When I was learning Power Point all the slides had to be the same temp plate. You could do a new program and loop the programs together if you really need different templates.

I just tried it and it worked o.k.

Open PPT, new slide
set it up as you wish
when finished

click Insert
new slide - I chose a different layout and it was o.k. Each slide had its own layout.

When you do want something to appear on all slides, such as a code for the filename, date, etc. -- put it in the master slide.
