I just had a perm done last week, I have very fine hair and not too much length so she used the peach rollers and I wanted more of a soft curl anyway.....But I notice if I don't put product in it while it's still damp its pretty straight at the root for a few inches. even when I do put product in the curls within a few inches of my scalp fall by the end of the day. I didn't know if this is normal or not since it's my first perm--And since my hair is so fine I wonder if the oils will flatten it out.

It sounds to me like your perm did not take well. You need to discuss this problem with your stylist. She/He should offer to do a redo for you. Not seeing your hair... this is a hard question to answer. It sounds like (a) the rods were to large for your length hair or (b) the perm did not take well. With fine hair you do need to use some products to hold the curl. The problem is that you do not want to weigh your hair down.

I would recommend:

Nexxus Diametress Shampoo (hair thickening shampoo)

Nexxus Exxtra Gel

Nexxus Retexxtur Curl Enhancing Styler (helps to rejuvenate a perm/increases curl retention/releases tangles etc.)

Having really fine hair and using such a big rod is part of the problem. And when perming fine hair, you have to be careful not to overprocess the hair, or it will fry it and you could turn out looking like a poodle. Sounds like she didnt give you a good perm. Maybe she didnt roll the rods right. It would be easier to answer your question if I could see your hair. You could go back to her and tell her your problem and see what she suggests.
If you have oily hair then your hair will go flat. Try using a shampoo for oily hair and see if that helps. Also try and stay away from heavy conditioners.

The oil in your hair, when gets dirty, can cause your hair to go flat, if you use gel, don't put alot in your hair, that can also flatten it,, if unsure call your hair-dresser, and good luck.

If you use a lot of hair oil at one time. Add a setting lotion to your hair while it's wet and roll your hair up nightly. This will add body to your hair.
