The meaning behind the tatoo is the most important thing. I think that something that is permanent on your skin should result from something that is soul moving and important to you (so that you never get tired of it) I like picture tatoos better. It helps to tell a story without words.

I prefer images over text of any sort but both are okay when done tastefully, well and artisitcally. I really dislike seeing names on people, and there are few exceptions to that. And I wouldn't want to see a bible sized book tattooed out on someone. But everyone likes something different, ya know? I think as long as the meaning is strong and important to you, it won't matter.

I like pictures more than lettering. A picture can be interpreted in different ways by each individual that looks at it but the true meaning (if there is one) can be shared by the owner of the art. Reading something on some one leaves no room for suggestion and can easily be passed over.

Maybe a four leaf shoulder...and I'm not saying this as a irish joke(because i actually have some irishh in my blood myself), I heard this quote I'm not sure if it's exactly correct so I would google it to be sure. But it went someti...oh wait just google it myself it goes "A best friend is like a four leaf clover, hard to find, lucky to have." or the best and the other person having friends part would be cute. Or just something small that represent the other person, like an animal or chinese symbol(research if you decide on the chinese/japenes chracter so they don't mess it up).

I have both on my body so far. I have my sons name written on my left arm, and I have my leo sign on my back. I love all tattoo's but love the way pictures can be so colourful and graphic.

I prefer pictures that are an actual picture not a random object or a practically naked lady. Unless it is a symbol like the celtic tree of life.

I think that words are kinda trashy, but then again where I come from it's mostly bikers with ex-wives names tattooed across their neck and street hookers with their first born's name tattooed across their wrists.

I say both. It doesnt matter what the tattoo is, just as long as it has meaning to it.
