Any ideas where I could look, or place an ad, for a trustworthy one in the town that I live? We have siblings and parents to watch our daughter; however, we ask them all the time and they are busy with their own lives and children. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I don't know of anyone in my neighborhood (I live in an apartment and aren't real chummy with the neighbors) and I would prefer a female over the age of 18 that has knowledge with infants.

Try contacting a local college. Usually they have a place were you could post an add, even if it's on a bulletin board. Also, maybe you could ask them to make an announcement (or let you) to the people majoring in early childhood or elementary education. Also, you could try www.craigslist.com. It has a childcare section you can make posts too.
I'm sure you would, but make sure you interview the person and ask for references since you wouldn't be getting a recommendation from someone you know.
Good luck!

Are there any Colleges or Universities in the area where you live? If so you should post something on a message board in coffee shops located on campus. You could also try the website, www.craigslist.org and see if your city has a link on there. You could also try local high schools, see if there are any job boards that you can hang something up on.
Good Luck! Once you find a good sitter it can make a world of difference!

I would say babysittig agency if you honestly have to get someoen you do not know, honestly I would never do such a thing , thier are just to many cases of abuse and kids being killed.
I am in college and the only place my son goes in on campus daycare which my friend works at, never would I trust a stranger with my baby.

i've read the other answers and they're great. just to kinda add in....if you find someone that you trust and they don't necessarily have that much experience with infants check with your local hospital. usually they offer a free safe babysitter class that goes over the basics along with first aid and cpr
good luck

Ask other parents for numbers to their favorite sitters.
The YMCA and Red Cross have courses in infant CPR and other safety measures; call your local office to see if they have a list of sitters who have passed the course.

I would try local places of worship, grocery stores, and school bulletins. Also if your town has a community website, you could post an ad on there.

Daycares are safer and more reliable but can be expensive. Check around with any teenage girls in your neighborhood that you can trust...ask if they have experience in baby-sitting and what they wish to charge. make sure they are at least about 13 though.

You could maybe try your local WIC office, or your church, or a local parenting center. I found the best sitter ever at my local parenting center!

Local highschools and colleges have "bullitien boards" where you can post for babysitters, call local churches (maybe the one you attend?).
