And, you do not have to "check your brains in at the door" in order to be a Christian. Jesus Christ claimed to be God, and proved himself by predicting his own death and resurrection. This is not an intellectual argument, it is spiritual. Their have been many atheists who have set out to prove the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be nothing more than fairy tales, only to find that the evidence for Jesus was overwhelming, and they became followers of Jesus (Christians) because of their studies. C.S. Lewis was one such person. Visit the link above for a good picture of what Christ did for you (and all of the world).

A great book to start you out on your walk with Jesus is "More Than A Carpenter" by Josh McDowell (another athiest turned Christian).

And lastly, find a good church. Not a church filled with legalism, but a church that understands Jesus Christ came to set man free. Colossians 3:20-23 says

Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

Basically, man's religion is empty and has no power to change you from the inside. So, find a support group that can encourage you in your new life, not with rules and regulations, but with love and support.

May God Bless you in your new life with Him!

You have already made the first step, you have a desire. First of all, how old are you? If you are teen get into a church with an active youth group and learn from the positive peer influence that they can give you. This can be an excellent source of information and support. If you are not a teen then most churches have excellent programs for all ages. The same concept applies. Second, speak with the Pastor about your desire and get an explanation from him about what it is to be a christian. Congratulations and good luck in your new walk with Christ.

I would like to tell you How to becme a Christian by first asking you a few questions................
Do you Consider yourself to be a Good person?

Have you ever lied (even once--fibs, white lies, etc.)? Ever stolen (anything--the value is irrelevant)? Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Have you ever looked with lust? If you have said "Yes" to these three questions, by your own admission, you are a lying, thieving, adulterer at heart; and the Bible say's "he who hates his brother is a murderer" have you ever hated someone?
Bearing in mind that Nothing you’ve ever done is hid from His holy eyes. Will you be innocent or guilty on the Day of Judgment? Listen to your conscience. You know that you will be guilty, and therefore end up in Hell. That’s not God’s will. He provided a way for you and I to be forgiven.
He sent His Son to take our punishment: "God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." He was bruised for our iniquities. Jesus then rose from the dead and defeated death.
Your own so-called “goodness” can’t get you into heaven any more than mine could. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. He is the "Door," the only "mediator." There is salvation in no other name, so Repent (turn from sin) and place your ful faith and trust in jesus as you would trust a parachute, and God wil save you from sin and grant you the gift of everlasting life. You will then become a Christian and have a new heart with new desires to love and serve God and read and Obey His word. I hope this helps and I hopr you will get your heart right with God today.
God Bless

Depends on what your definition of Christian is. To be a Christian Jehovah's Witness, you must first learn about God, Jesus and holy spirit, God's purpose for man and how he will bring it about, who Satan is and how he messed things up on the earth and much more. Then, you must turn around from following the ways of the world and begin following Christ. In other Christian religions I have been involved with, all you have to do is say you want to and get baptized.

Do what many of the believers here have said to do: believe that Christ is God and that he died for our sins and cleanses and forgives us from all sin. You need to love Him, follow Him, obey Him and try to be like Him. Get into His word to understand His nature. And don't just read the Bible, obey it. Think on it and pray for understanding if you are confused. Also, I suggest you try to be around mature and godly people, so that you can hold and be held accountable and so that you can have fellowship with other believers.

Just fall for the judgmental punishing God lie that they promote as religion.

Use the ten commandments as a sorting tool to judge others so you can have someone to feel better than.

That is a good start.

Love and blessings Don

Believe the good news that Jesus died for your sins and ask God to forgive you and give you his Holy Spirit, is the short answer. Here's a link that will lay it out a little more fully for you.

You pray and ask the Lord to come into your heart and save you. You truely and honestly ask for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you try to live the rest of your life doing and saying things that would honor God.

God Bless

if you are serious, you must repent. you must believe in the trinity; that God is the father, the son and the holy spirit. you must believe that jesus died on the cross for our sins, his people. Christianity is not necessarily going to church, but is believing in him with all your heart and soul. pray to him to guide you and teach you. to find your true self, for wisdom. do what you know is right. no one is perfect and everyone is a sinner, but that doesnt mean you can sin on purpose. if you find yourself thinking impurely or getting angry, fight it. think of gods love and rejoice. try with all your might. honestly, its not easy being a christian. you will be criticized, judged and even hated, but dont worry about it. your rewards are in heaven. remember, you dont have to answer to no one but god. hes the only one who can truly judge.follow the straight and narrow. good luck and congradulations. love, ashley
