I was diagnoised with broncotist on oct 25th.. My doc gave me Amoxicillin. I know i should have finished them, but they made me feel real sluggish and i was felling much better. Now i am coughing alot again and feel like i am getting back to that point. I have not taken the meds in over four days. Is it safe to start taking them again even though it has been past the 10 days?

ALWAYS, ALWAYS finish antibiotics, if you feel bad call your doc or pharmacy immediately. I would call your doc or pharmacy about retaking them, because you dont have a full dose left.
When you dont finish antibiotics, whether its for 7 days, 10 days, 3 days....the bacteria colonies can replicate and get stronger and fight back and become immune to the antibiotic.
This is why Penicillin doesnt work on a lot of bacteria, and why the pharmacy world is now on its 4th generation (if not more) of antibiotics......they stop working
Never stop meds unless a doc helps!!!

If you stopped taking your antibiotics for 4 days you will still need to take them for another full 10 days. Start them up again because it sounds like you are relapsing, but also call your doctor and have them prescribe the amount of pills you need to complete a 10 day cycle. Next time, don't stop taking them even if you are feeling better, you will just relapse again! Tell your doctor you promise to finish them this time.

With antibiotics you should always take all the pills prescribed. They need to build up you immune system and since you skipped 4 days you can finish the meds however you may end up getting sick again.

When taking antibiotics one should ALWAYS finish the prescribed course even though feeling better. Continue your script but you may need an additional course because the bacteria that caused the bronchitis in the first place was just stunned not completely killed....

No, you have made super-germs. The bacteria that survived the first round of amoxicillin are now resistant to it. You will need a new, more potent antiobiotic to kill off the bacteria. That is why you should ALWAYS finish antibiotics, even if you feel better.

When you don't complete an antibiotic treatment, bacteria still linger and basically learn how to be immune to that particular medicine. It's very dangerous because you can spread that bacteria to other people and it can't be treated. Don't take the rest because you might only make yourself worse. Go back to your doctor if the problem persists.

Ask your doctor about an antibiotic called Zmax-- its a one time antibitiotic which is strong, effective and tolerable. One time dose and you never need to take it again.

Keep taking them. You have a bacterial infection and the antibiotic your doctor gave you will help to kill the infection, but if you stop taking it before the infection dies, the infection continues to grow in your body. Good Luck.

Keep taking them. If it doesn't improve completely at the end of the meds, go back to the dr. Drink plenty of water with them.
