Excellent question - very thought provoking.
When I saw the video of his reaction to his sentencing I was surprised how much compassion I felt for him. I hate what he did to his people but have mixed feeling about him, or anyone, being sentenced to be hanged - it's such a harsh way to go. I would think life in prison would be better.
The older I get the less in favor I am in the death penalty. I am glad I don't have to decide his fate.

I am non religious, so those questions concern me in a different way. What I do believe is that some people are born or become flawed, what we call evil. A healthy society should eliminate these people as soon as they are discovered. Putting them in cages is wrong because they cannot be "cured". If they find some comfort in adopting a religious idea before we kill them, that is fine, but they should be killed as soon as possible, never longer than a year from the time they are found to be doing cruel and deadly things to other people. Normal, innocent people die every day by the thousands, from disease, accident, old age. We accept that as best we can. There is no reason to cage a murderer for years, when good people are dying all around us.
What good will it do to prolong this thug's life? Why should he live while thousands he ordered killed rot in mass graves. If we have immortal souls, perhaps the dying process cleanses them and prepares them for whatever the next level is.
A favorite saying of mine is, " Killing people is easy. God does it every day." When an animal becomes rabid or dangerous we kill it. Saddam Hussein ordered horrible deaths, rapes of young and old women and men and mutilations of the very people he was supposed to be leading. He must be deeply flawed or even insane to enjoy torture and terror. Kill him and be done with it.

I am mixed. I don't approve of the death penalty but his actions have been of murders as well. What gives him the right to breath when he has taken breath from others.
I can only go on what the media has shown us.
I tell you this..I am nervous about being out and about the day it happens if it does. Everyone will be riotting I think..everywhere. Sad. Its all just Sad. You think the world would be better than now. I think I have lost all hope for it.

That's like asking how we would feel if Hitler got the death penalty. Some men in this world are pure evil, and I think they need to be removed from this earth. Think of the Kurds he murdered. Maybe this will give them some justice.

When he finally hangs it may bring a degree of closure to his fanatic supporters who are rampaging in Iraq killing anyone and everyone. Once he is really gone their raison d'etre is gone and it might finally bring an end to the senseless sectarian killing and violence.
The death penalty is not so bad, it's just that humans alone in the animal kingdom have misguided notions about the preservation of life and the finality of death. It's a good way to thin the herd of its undesirable elements.

What penalty is fitting for one who has murdered thousands?
Personally the death penalty is too easy for him. Maybe life with all freedom denied and no access to the rest of the world is better?

Ask the families of the people he killed, if he left anyone alive.
I couldn't sentence someone to the death penalty, but if they get it, I think it is deserved. I am a Christian, but some people are just too evil to keep in living.

Sad isn't it. He was perhaps our last real hope for peace in Iraq.
IF they would let him go he would have the whole thing cleaned up in less than a month, with a lot less bloodshed.
He is going to be hanged for killing a couple of hundred people. GWB has created a situation where over a half million have lost their lives.
To bad that justice is not just.
It would be great to see George and his buddies on trial for what they have done.
love and blessings Don

He is a product of his culture and the times, as will be his punishment. Just remember, if he dies before Armageddon, than he will be resurrected. Whether it is to everlasting life or to judgment if up to God and none of us.
As for whether he should be put to death or not, that is an issue for governments, not Christians.

when god gave the death penalty in the old testament it was one of the way to get rid of sin in the land but when Christ died it was for the forgiveness of all sin accept blasphemy of the holy spirit,so to be for given for all other sin mean no death penalty should apply for sin can now be taken away so I'm not for the death penalty
