I was pretty hesitant at asking this question, but I'm pretty stuck right now and well, I guess I need some encouragement. I cannot explain my whole situation in 1000 words or less so I'm gonna just say this...

I've been a "questioning Christian" for awhile now, if there is such a thing...that being I believe and trust in God, I really do, but there are so many things I don't understand and I often get fed up with people saying "just trust God, pray and he will make things clear"...well, I've been more confused in the last 4 years (since I've been saved) than I have been when I was not. I was in a spiritual mentoring class through church not long ago and it didn't help me the way that I felt it should. I feel that I'm a good, moral person and I really try, but I'm feeling like I'm going down a dead end road when it comes to a "personal relationship with God". I just don't feel that it's there right now. Sheesh, I could write so much more, but as you know, my space is limited.

your problem is not unusual. luckily, you are smart enough to realize your own confusion...some people will go their whole life "half-believing" in god. One thing i noticed that you need to realize, if you don't already, is the most important thing to god is your "personal relationship with god." don't let the whole morals and rules business confuse you until you are at that point. christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship. god wants you to experience love and fulfillment in life and he says you can only experience this through that "personal relationship with god."

god loves you and he is someone to talk to. he doesn't respond verbally in most cases, but you can find his responses in your everyday life.

i'll tell ya...i love talking to people about this kind of thing. its my favorite thing in the world, and people tell me i'm a good listener. so if you're serious about this wanting to get out of a spiritual rut business and you have the slightest interest in talking to me: email me at e-address@sbcglobal.net and i'll try and set up some means to talk to you.

if not, i'll still pray for your spiritual push-outta-a-rut.

I could really answer in over 1000 words or more but we're limited. So here goes.....When I was "newly" saved I didn't go through what you're going through. I was "so" into the Word that I was just thrilled with God. What I can tell you is I understand how you feel when people tell you just trust God. What I can tell you is GOD is REALLY REAL. I've asked that I "learn to hear his voice and /i can truly say He has answered that pray. So I suggest that you start there. At first it was just that small clear voice in my spirtit but once I did hear an actual voice. Now very clearly I hear God clearly. I am not joking or playing. Be encouraged... ask God and believe He will answer you. Ask Him to help your "unbelief" What do you have to lose? I been saved awhile and still have questions.

That's good you are starting to ask questions. That's where enlightenment and awareness starts. You are beginning to learn and see that religion and a belief in God has some limitations. Every religion is based in the past, with past ideas and beliefs. Every religious belief today is the same as it was 2,000 years ago, it will be the same for another 2,000 years, unless we change.

Science is always evolving. Humanism is a new way of thought, a way we can embrace our diversity. We are one planet, we are all connected by a common chemical hertiage. Once you begin to strip away the "mind virus" of religion, your self-consciousness will begin to be raised to a higher level. Something that more and more people should do. The world would be a much better place.

The only way to gain understanding is through experience. When you are truly paying attention to what is going on around and within you, answers present themselves.

When I was in the same situation you were, I eventually came to the conclusion that Christianity wasn't for me. I came to this conclusion because what I experienced couldn't be reconciled with what I had been taught about Christianity. I've talked to people who have had the same experience. I've also talked to Christians who went through the same sort of period of questioning and found that what they believed about their religion did in fact reflect their experience.

What I mean is that it's not important what you ultimately decide is true, but rather that you rigorously apply yourself to determining what exactly it is that you believe. Or perhaps what you don't believe.

To follow after Christ is NEVER an easy way..if it were then more people would be following after Christ. (That is why the Bible says the way to hell is wide & many go that way..whereas the way to Heaven is narrow & few are they that find it) The Lord wants us to hang tough...especially when the going gets tough..& He told us that following Him WOULD be very difficult ...as He says "In this life you WILL have tribulations" but we are also to be encouraged for He also says :take heart for I have overcome the world!" This life is like school...lots of tests to "purify" our faith, not for His sake but for our own! To hang in there is not an easy thing...to have faith is not an easy thing, but then neither is a race an easy thing...but we as Christians RUN that race..to WIN the prize! The "Prize" that is worth ALL that we endure! Eternal life in Heaven with Jesus where all good things exist in abundance (eye has not seen, nor ear heard the wonders that God has planned for those that love the Lord!) ..a place where there is NO MORE sorrow, sickness, death, loneliness, heartache, pain..etc! Now to me personally...that is worth every effort I can muster! So my advise to you would be to put on the armor that God gives you, so that you will be able to withstand the attacks of the enemy! Read your Bible, pray & keep on running the race to WIN!

everyone gets confused and it they say they dont they are lying. Anyway dont worry about it, maybe there is a way that you want to worship God and people are trying to be judgemental against that way. Just worship God the way you want to and dont worry about anything else and if you do not feel very spiritual right now then thats not a big deal because you have the rest of your life to feel spiritual.

Don't ever give up...... God does test our limits

God wants us to keep seeking, and prayers are the most powerful thing to God, be patient, it does take time, but you'll never know when and what day that it would happen, God would and will give you some kinda answer, I know, perahps I've gotten more than most have, perhaps it's that I am very open, to the many ways of him communicating, so many ways. I do go cold, and start to wonder what is God up to now, he's testing me again, seeking my weaknesses. I wonder sometimes does he want to see us break, like Job in the Bible, we are here for his reason and purpose, his pleasure, he wants to smile, especially when he see's us using the gifts he gave us. focus on God, try being compassionate in prayers, sincere, heart felt prayers are the ones that matter. but the one time God came intervene to me was on a job site during a meeting, I did have compassion in my heart for my boss, and it was in the moment of truth, I raised my hand and said I was one of them, I felt God's presences above me in me and around me, warm and happy, God said in my head, "I am happy with you". depends what you do and what your heart feels, God knows the heart, if your heart feels, God feels what you feel....... God always knew my heart, that's why he took compassion on me and save my life many many times, he has plans for me and my children.
So please, don't give up, take it as if God is sending you a message..... be strong for others who need your help, God is teaching us all through life experiences, and suffering, so we would be strong enough to help others who fall in our path.

God Bless you

As a Christian, I will only encourage you to realize that you have had a "faith flush". You have not been taught that belief without doubting is not as easy as it sounds. And yet this is what activates the response of Father God to our needs. Please use the Word as your prayers. The book of John was invaluable for me. You ofcourse, have heard "work out your salvation with fear and trembling before the Lord". This is not being in terror before God, this is only accepting His authority as the only Truth.

Spirituality comes from wisdom. You can not obtain wisdom from a single source. Broaden your view on the subject by searching in different directions.
