depends on the camera you purchased. Look in the manual for the type of lens . Olympus has a nice lens and depending on your zoom if you have a 3x zoom and a digital 4x zoom you owuld actually have a 7x lens. You just have to turn on the 4x digital. The better the lens the more the camera

Lens is a lens, its only purpose is to produce an image on its focal point independently of which camera it is mounted on.

Now in constructing the lens, some are glass others plastic, some are sharper others soft; but again it only purpose is produce an image over the film or over the digital sensor.
