Ever since her mom passed away 10 years ago my daughter has had to take on all the wifely and motherly duties of the household. Well, she was cleaning my room the other day. After she made my bed she said she started vacuuming and a rat or mouse scurried across the room and she jumped back and knocked over my glass lamp. This was over 100 dollars..I mean it was nice. Well, I had been drinking some and when i found out I just about lost it and made her bend over the bed while I spanked her with a wooden paint stick (the usual thing, because it usually doesn't hurt as much as a belt or hairbrush in my opinion) Well she ended up crying and then after I became more sober, I felt like maybe I went overboard. I didn't apologize but I did let her go see some movie she had been wanting to go see...do you think this made up for it or should I apologize?

What you need to do is NOT have your 19 year old daughter clean and take care of her drunk of a father how thinks it is perfectly find to paddle his 19 year old daughter.

What you need to do is STOP drinking, CLEAN up after yourself, You are a grown man arnt you.?

And what that 19 year old daughter of yours needed to do when you wanted and started to paddle was tell you where to go and leave the house until you sobered up. Then she needs to tell you she loves you and to STOP drinking and CLEAN up after your self. She is your daughter NOT you maid..

NOW go to an AA meeting and/or an anger managment meeting and help your 19 year old daughter find her own place to live.

GOD BLESS!!

I do believe you were in the wrong! For a couple of reasons. One is that spanking is not anyway to disipline any child. There are somany ways disipline can be accomplished with out the violence. Yes what you displayed was violent behavior. The second reason is just this, you said your daughter is 19. When and heavens name are you treating her like a child. Would you have hit her mother for breaking the same lamp? She is a young adult now and should be treated as such. You mentioned you were drinking? You kinda just threw it out there like maybe you were looking for replies that would condone what you did just because you were drinking. You should ask yourself why you drink? Does hitting come natural to you? Maybe you just need some kind of support group for single parents. Or perhaps AA group to get the alcohol out of your life. You know your daughter is just that your daughter not your wife. At her age I dont think its appropiate for her to be playing mommy with daddy. Doesnt she have school or friends? I also want to say hey man Its just a lamp! A materialistic object that can truely be replaced. Your daughter on the other hand is not replaceable. A 100$ lamp = a spanking as if. My 12 year old broke a brand new xbox 360 a complete accident and the only reprocussion of it was she hade to explain how it happened and identify what she could have done differently to prevent that from happening again. You know what we saved up for when they first hit the market. We cant afford another one, not for a while... But we still love her more then that xbox360, We cant imagine laying a single finger on her for something so miniscule. You, In my oppinion need help, with your parenting skills and your needing to sit down and sort out your values. Oh and on more thing, yes you need and owe your daughter an apology. A dang movie does not cut the mustard. I will pray that you find your way.

You were absolutely in the wrong for spanking a 19 year old. She is not a kid anymore she is an adult. You need to go to her and apologize to her and let her know that you are sorry. It was an accident that your lamp got broke and what is more important? A lamp or your daughter? Think about it.

Would you have done that to your wife if it happened to her? Your daughter was doing the cleaning that your wife would be doing if your wife were still alive. I honestly dont think you would have spanked your wife, so why your daughter? You definitely owe your daughter an apology. Allowing her to go see a movie is no way to apologize......she needs to have you sit down and tell her face to face that you are sorry and truly mean it. Hope this little comparison has opened your eyes

Last time I checked, 14 was still a child. If you don't want to be spanked, do what you are told. I actually think 14 is too old for a spanking, I would take the credit card and cell phone away.

She is 19, she's not your little girl anymore she is an adult, and if you expect to keep and open relationship with her I would suggest treating her with the respect she deserves. You are a grown *** man, why is she cleaning YOUR room anyway. Sounds like you drink for your wifes loss, keep this up and you're gonna lose your daughter too, sober up take responsibility for your self. Some movie she wanted to see, you need to have better communication with her doesnt sound like you care to know what she wants or likes...

Father? Drinking? Had to take on all wifely & motherly duties? Daughter 19? Spanked? Paint stick instead of belt or hairbrush? Got sober? You need help - much more your daughter does.

maybe i read to deeply into things and I will admit to it but you need help. spanking is a term used for children and 19 is not a child, #1. #2 you bent her over and spanked her with a wooden stick? your a sick man. You just got your thrills off on yahooo answers, how gross. Is this a new fetish because, I have been noticing some* men writing silly questions like this with underlying tones of incest and or molestation. Is your life really that pathetic?

You should apologize. You don't spank a 19 year old daughter or son. Drinking is no excuse.

This really sounds like a troll, and hopefully it is, but if not, you're lucky she didn't call the police. You committed assault! She's an adult now and you have no right to "spank" her or put your hands on her at all.
