Ok my pregnant dachshund is officially 51 days into her pregnancy, but unofficially she might be 58 days into her pregnancy (the breeder said she saw them for the 1st time on the official date, but we had had the dog w/ the male dog for a week already).
About 3 weeks ago my dog started producing milk. now her milk bags are dragging the ground. Today for the first time milk is starting to come out out of four of her nipples. This is her first pregnancy. I've done research on this, but I couldn't find a website, book, etc. on this subject. Please don't tell me that i'm not prepared, not ready, etc.

Dogs have a gestation period of 63 days, give or take a couple. Have you set up a puppy box for her to give birth in, as it is best to get her settled into an appropriate location before she is due. If she is starting to leak a little bit of milk already she is probably going to give birth quite soon, so set her up a bed and get her settled into it if you have not already done so. If you can get your hands on a whelping box, a large box that allows her access, but that the puppies cannot get out of until older, that would be great. Line the area that she is to give birth in with newspaper, which is easily cleaned up afterwards, a lot of girls shred the paper to make a comfy bed. She will probably become uneasy just before she is about to give birth, and will probably then fall into quite a deep sleep. Make sure that she is given adequate privacy to give birth(especially from other dogs), but also keep an eye on her to make sure nothing goes wrongIf you are worried about the birthing process give your local vet or the owner of the dog a call, Im sure they would be more than happy to help... With the milk being that heavy, it sounds like she is getting ready to have her babies. If she is on day 58, then if she has the pups they should be okay. Take her temp. If it is below 99, she should have the pups in 12-24 hours.
