What kinda camera? If it's just an automatic then look up a site that tells about composition. Composition is one of the main factors in a good photograph. Lighting is another but on alot of automatic cameras there is no turning off the flash.
Also try the liberary and look at all the photography books.

How old are you?
Do you possess a camera?
The answer is in your head. If you don't know by now, you never will. If it doesn't become clear when you look into the camera, you are on a losing streak and I wonder why you are in an art class at all.

Just aim your automatic camera to any subject well lit, compose through the view finder, and shut.

the page is your eye. the subject is the world around you. find a pleasing object or person or beast and capture it on your camera.
