Why do people choose tempered glass over other types of glass in some applications such as curtain walls? Other than safety and strength, is there other advantage?

Hi. The main advantage is that tempered glass will break into small, roughly cubical pieces. This eliminated a major hazard of having sharp pieces of glass.

Tempered glass is fairly tough and durable. Specifically, it is difficult to break, but once it is broken, it shatters into a bagillion crumbles. These shattered crumble pieces could conceivably cut someone, but they are not nearly as dangerous as the sharp, jagged pieces that would result from breaking an ordinary window glass.

Tempered glass won't shatter like normal glass in case of an impact, so less dangerous of getting hurt.
