is it possible to be so depressed, so sick of life, that you could go to sleep and not wake up? is it possible that mental pain could end up being the cause of your death?

I don't think that it is possible for this to actually end your life.
Perhaps ther are points of such great stress in everyones life (some will experience greater stress than others) where they wish that once their head hit the pillow their problems ended. It is possible though that stress related issues could be the cause of death since intense mental stress has very physical side affects on the person which can lead to death depending on how long the sttress related illness lasts and whether it is a deteriorating condition. But its more than likely that the person would simply get much worse before they got better.
So it is possible that mental pain can lead to death (only through the physical manifestation of the stress) but it is not a very likely scenario despite the amount of stress. The person in question would perhaps have to be somewhat weak physically initially.
Hope this sorta answers this one :)

No Ma'am, or the funeral homes would have "Help Wanted" ads all over the place. Mental pain can make you wish you would never wake up, but the truth is, it just doesn't happen like that. Depression can cause a pain like no other, but the good news is it can be treated. Behavior modification, medicine and therapy go a long way to help overcome depression.

Oh honey, you need to get medical help!!! Now!!! I have had those feelings many times. I have 3 busy boys to take care of so most of my depression comes from lack of sleep. There have been times where I wanted to go to sleep and never wake up, due to the extreme tierdness I had. You need to firstly get blood test to check your iron as well as your thyroid. I know how you feel as it has been a tough year for me too. Every time I think of ending my life I always think of my family.

I must tell you though I have started taking green barley, a tsp a day in a glass of orange juice and I seem to have so much more energy. I seem to get through the day a lot better now.

Please go and see a Doctor ASAP.

Comas can be caused by incredibly extreme stress. A person can wake up an entirely different person as well, and not know they're different. Then, one day, they snap out of it and wonder what they're doing in the middle of rural Illinois.

No. The depression could actually be forming a physical condition called "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome". You should contact your physician to have this tended to.

But you will not die from this. Keep focus on the positive!

I've wondered that and felt like I was dying when I was depressed. I don't think it's possible though...maybe you should go see someone and get some medicine. You don't have to feel like you do.
